Former Catholic priest, Patrick Henry Edet, who had his traditional marriage earlier this week, yesterday wedded at the  Ibom Hall, IBB Avenue, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. He resigned from Catholic priesthood in  Catholic Church in Akwa Ibom seven months ago after 11 years of being a priest. Edet, got married to Inyene Sampson Akpan, a graduate of University of Uyo.   More photos below...

Just days after 33 cult groups in Akwa Ibom were bared from operating in the state. Some suspected militants of the Icelaand group have shot dead one Udeme Daniel Akpan. Until his gruesome murder early yesterday morning, the deceased, father of three, was the youth leader of Ikot Edet community in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area. It was gathered, the deceased who was at the forefront of fighting the cult menace in his community, was served a notice to pay some undisclosed amount to the militants or risked being killed. This is very sad!! Two SS2 students of the Alex Secondary School, Idua in Eket LGA of Akwa Ibom drowned in the Qua Iboe River in Akwa Ibom State, LIB reports.  The students namely Aniekan Harry (left in blue) and Uche Okoli (right in red) had sneaked out of their school on Thursday December 7th with six other students to go play football. After playing football, the students were on their way back to school when their deceased colleagues told them they would like to take a deep in the River. Owen Oscar, one of their colleagues who also sneaked out of school, said they advised the victims not to go swimming but they refused and went ahead to swim. Getting to the River, Harry slipped into it while Okoli jumped into it. Trouble started when the students could not find Okoli and Harry in the River.  The marine police officers around the River were alerted and a search for the victims began.
