The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the arrest of suspected notorious killer herdsmen, Idi Gemun, Aliyu Teshaku and others by the Nigerian troops in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

The Benue state Governor, Samuel Ortom today led Executive council members, Assembly members and other top government functionaries to cater for Internally Displaced persons at various camps across the state. . The governor during his visit promised to do everything humanly possible to make sure the Internally Displaced Persons returns to their homes. Ortom was verbally quoted during his address at the Daudu IDPs as saying ; I will do everything humanly possible to make sure you return to your ancestral homes. I cannot sleep, because you are here. I know what it means to be displaced even as it is fundamentally true that no place will ever be like home. I'm fully committed to making sure all of you resettle in your homes and I can assure you that that will happen in no distance time. I also call on the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces to upgrade the exercise 'Ayam A kpatuma' to a full military operation in order to restore normalcy to all areas affected. ...

The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom on saturday condemned the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, for blaming the incessant killing of natives by herdsmen on the state’s anti-open grazing law, saying the IGP’s stance portrays him as deceitful and complicit in the murders. 

Governors of Taraba state and Benue state have been dragged to court over the killings in the state by suspected herdsmen, NAIJ reports.

The governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, who was at the funeral of former Nigeria's Chief of Staff , Lt. Gen. Victor Malu (Rtd.) ,moved straight to a political function organized for his second term endorsement in Gboko on the same day to engage in a one corner dance to the cheering crowd of his supporters. However ,Benue people have faulted the fact that the governor threw caution to the winds as, still wearing the same dress he wore at the burial to engage in merriment, tagging it as been disrespectful to the fact that the Tiv nation were still mourning the lost of their illustrious son.
