No fewer than 109 people are currently in police custody after May Day protests against reforms by President Emmanuel Macron which later turned violent in the French's capital. Recalled on Tuesday, demonstrations  saw vehicles torched, a McDonald’s restaurant smashed up and vandalism at automobile shops. Those in custody Wednesday are suspected of offenses that include carrying prohibited weapons that fire projectiles. Several people were injured. Paris Police Prefect Michel Delpuech said that violence was carried out by masked attackers from a libertarian group called the Black Blocs that numbered around 1,200 people in total.   He added that “the desire of the radical activists was to spiral the day out of control.”

The First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron has said Melania Trump has become a virtual prisoner in her own home. Mrs Macron said this after her three-day visit to Washington. Heaping praise on Melania Trump, Mrs Macron said the US First Lady is hiding a strong personality and is "fun" and "intelligent".  Brigitte, also added that she is treated like a prisoner in the White House, while apeaking in an interview during the final day of the Macrons’ US trip: Melania can’t do anything, she can’t even open a window at the White House because immediately the security services call and say 'close it'. She can’t go outside. Every day, I go out in Paris. It is the second time Mrs Macron and Mrs Trump have met. The first time was when the Trumps visited Paris in July. The Telegraph daily reports that a 16th-century gold case containing the heart of the only woman to be crowned queen of France twice has been stolen.   The British newspaper said that the 15.24-cm oval reliquary containing the heart of Anne of Brittany was stolen by robbers, who broke in through a window of the Thomas-Dobree Museum in the western French city of Nantes over the weekend.   The queen was buried at Saint Denis near Paris when she died in 1514, but her heart was stored in her family tomb in Nantes to show her loyalty to Brittany. The reliquary, topped by a gold crown with nine lilies, the royal motif, is considered a masterpiece.   It had been on display at the museum for more than 130 years. The theft has created outrage among the public.  Philippe Grosvalet, president of the Loire-Atlantique department which owns the museum, said thieves had “attacked our common heritage”, stealing an item “of inestimable value.”

French government will soon set the legal age of s**ual consent at 15 after the country was shocked at the acquittal of two men who had s** with 11yr old girls. If passed into law, it will be the first of its kind in the country which currently has no rule saying a child under a certain age is considered incapable of consenting to s**. The government’s women’s affairs office said that it has decided to set the threshold at 15 in a bill to be presented to parliament later this month. Earlier, officials had discussed setting it at 13. President Emmanuel Macron, among others, argued for it to be older. In two recent legal cases, adult men were accused of having s** with 11-year-old girls who were considered consenting under French law.
