The immediate Nigerian passed  Minister of the Economy and Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has revealed how a former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu and his counterparts ‘wrongly’ advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to announce the withdrawal of fuel subsidy on January 1, 2012,Daily post reports. The announcement caused bloody protests across the country, which forced government to backtrack on the price increase. In a new book, “Fighting corruption is dangerous: The story behind the headlines”, Okonjo-Iweala recalled how the move was “ill timed and wrong.” She wrote, “There were some debates within the Economic Management Team as to whether fuel subsidies should be phased out in stages or in one fell swoop. A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be prosecuted if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insists that prosecution of suspected looters is selective.   Oshiomhole made this call in Benin City at the weekend after attending the wedding of the daughter of Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonayima, a member representing Ikpoba Okha/Egor federal Constituency at the National Assembly. Nigeria's Accountant General of the Federation(AGF) has insisted in a letter sent to lawmakers that former president jonathan ,others must be tried, Daily Post reports. Nigeria's President ,Muhammadu Buhari is scheduled to host the Council of State on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. Punch reports that, the President, for the third time, will be hosting the meeting of the council that has all living former Presidents and Heads of Government as members since he assumed office in 2015. The two Nigeria's former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan today met in Otuoke, Bayelsa State. Chief Obasanjo is said to be in Bayelsa on a 3-Day working visit to commission legacy projects completed by Governor Seriake Dickson.

Nigeria's immediate passed minister for Finance has blamed lack of savings during previous administration she worked in as been responsible for the country's economic woes while speaking at a public function recently.  Ngozi, said that Nigeria is currently facing economic hardship because there was no political willpower to save during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.  According to her, when she was Minister of Finance during Obasanjo's administration, the political willpower to save was there but during her second time as Minister of Finance during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, there was zero willpower to save she said.  Watch the video below... 

Could this be why the country is still stagnat despite having new government in place? A UK Department for International Development (DFID) has stated that $32 billion was lost to corruption during the six-year administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.  The head of DFID Nigeria, Debbie Palmer, disclosed this when she spoke at an event organised by Youngstars Foundation Initiative in commemoration of the 2017 international anti-corruption day. She said; “An independent report estimates that up to $32bn was lost to corruption under the previous government. This is around 15 percent of state resources during the period and could well be an underestimate. So, the estimate is that nearly 16 percent of the previous government’s money was lost to corruption. That is a staggering amount of money. And that is money that is to all of you and to your future. Nigeria's former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been making frantic measures on bringing his party, PDP  back to normal thereby initiating  some moves geared at reconciling aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Some newsite reports, he has gathered a team consisting of his loyalists and is expected to visit these aggrieved members with the hope of reconciling them. Though the party has a standing committee on reconciliation, headed by the Governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, it was gathered that the former President decided to assemble his team as the Leader of the party.

Nigeria's Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Thursday knocked former President, Goodluck Jonathan over his reaction on the fuel subsidy scam and his bid for presidential election, Nigerian Bulletin reports. The immediate passed President of Nigeria, Goodluck Jonathan has pledged to help the PDP regain power in 2019 saying he was the main reason the party lost the election. He said this on Wednesday after a meeting with the Bode George Media Office. A statement released after the meeting quoted the ex-President as saying it was his responsibility to ensure that the PDP rose again as a strong political platform to win the next elections. “Whether I like it or not, I must take responsibility for the defeat because I led the party to the election. The only thing that will make me sleep well is to ensure that the PDP comes back to power.”

A Former Special Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri stated this a statement issued on behalf of Jonathan on Monday. Farida Waziri, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has said she is thankful former President Goodluck Jonathan kicked her out of office because his administration backed corruption. According to a statement on Sunday, Waziri said this during an interaction with journalists at an unnamed event, which she attended in Lagos at the weekend.
