The immediate Nigerian passed  Minister of the Economy and Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has revealed how a former governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu and his counterparts ‘wrongly’ advised former President Goodluck Jonathan to announce the withdrawal of fuel subsidy on January 1, 2012,Daily post reports. The announcement caused bloody protests across the country, which forced government to backtrack on the price increase. In a new book, “Fighting corruption is dangerous: The story behind the headlines”, Okonjo-Iweala recalled how the move was “ill timed and wrong.” She wrote, “There were some debates within the Economic Management Team as to whether fuel subsidies should be phased out in stages or in one fell swoop. Adams Oshiomhole Says, Former President Goodluck Jonathan Should Be Prosecuted Over Corruption

A former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that former President Goodluck Jonathan should be prosecuted if the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) insists that prosecution of suspected looters is selective.   Oshiomhole made this call in Benin City at the weekend after attending the wedding of the daughter of Hon Ehiozuwa Agbonayima, a member representing Ikpoba Okha/Egor federal Constituency at the National Assembly. Nigeria's immediate passed minister for Finance has blamed lack of savings during previous administration she worked in as been responsible for the country's economic woes while speaking at a public function recently.  Ngozi, said that Nigeria is currently facing economic hardship because there was no political willpower to save during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.  According to her, when she was Minister of Finance during Obasanjo's administration, the political willpower to save was there but during her second time as Minister of Finance during the Goodluck Jonathan administration, there was zero willpower to save she said.  Watch the video below...

A UK Department for International Development (DFID) has stated that $32 billion was lost to corruption during the six-year administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.  The head of DFID Nigeria, Debbie Palmer, disclosed this when she spoke at an event organised by Youngstars Foundation Initiative in commemoration of the 2017 international anti-corruption day. She said; “An independent report estimates that up to $32bn was lost to corruption under the previous government. This is around 15 percent of state resources during the period and could well be an underestimate.
