World's football governing body, FIFA ,has announced it will advance $2 million in prize money to each of the five African teams that have qualified for the World Cup to help them prepare for the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said. Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia have qualified for the tournament in Russia, and CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said in a statement that the money would be used “to settle beforehand the question of bonuses due the players.”   Disputes over payments at previous tournaments “had led to situations that affected badly the image of African football, with a considerable impact on team performances,” he added.   Last year, Nigeria’s football federation (NFF) signed an agreement with its players pledging to avoid the bonus and pay rows that have blighted past World Cup campaigns. The Nigerian football referees have no place as FIFA chose six African match officials for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This was revealed on Thursday. The world football governing body also selected additional 10 assistant referees from Africa. The referees are Abid Medhi (Algeria ), Diedhiou Malang (Senegal), Gassama Bakary (Guinea), Grisha Ghead (Egypt ), Sikawe Janny (Zambia) and Tessema Bamlak (Ethiopia). The assistant referees are Achik Redouane (Morocco ), Ahmed Waleed (Sudan ), Birumushahu Claude (Burundi), Camera Djibril (Senegal), Dos Santos Jerson Emiliano (Angola ), Etchiali Abdelhak (Algeria), Hmila Anouar (Tunisia), Range Marwa (Kenya ), Samba Malick (Senegal) Siwela Zakhele Thusi (South Africa). The Video Assistant Referee, VAR, will be used at the World Cup for the first time.

World Football governing body, FIFA, has banned Peru captain Paolo Guerrero, for one-year after he was found guilty of taking cocaine. According to Mail Online Sport, the 33-year-old South American striker, who plays for Flamengo in Brazil, had been provisionally suspended after failing a doping test following Peru's World Cup qualifier against Argentina in Buenos Aires in October. In a statement by World football's governing body, they said the Disciplinary Committee had found that Guerrero had violated article six of the organisation's Anti-Doping Regulations. The striker who has 82 caps for his country and 32 goals in total, will be a huge miss for Peru as a leader and goal-scorer. Peru qualified for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1982 by beating New Zealand in a two-legged playoff. Guerrero missed both of those matches. World's governing football body ,FIFA has banned three ex foitballers. The ban was carried out by FIFA’s ethics watchdogs. The three former football officials are  from Guam, Nicaragua and Venezuela abd this is as part of efforts to address widespread corruption in the sport, the world football governing body said on Tuesday. The latest officials to be hit by Fifa bans are Richard Lai, the former Guam Football Association president and a former member of the Fifa audit and compliance committee; Julio Rocha, the former Nicaraguan Football Association president and a former Fifa development officer; and Rafael Esquivel, former Venezuelan Football Association president. All three men had pleaded guilty in the United States to separate federal charges ranging from wire fraud to racketeering and money laundering. Former Argentine lawyer for a government-run soccer television program ran in front of a Buenos Aires train and committed suicide late on Tuesday, November 15, 2017, hours after being accused in a New York court of receiving bribes. Jorge Delhon, 52, appears to have committed suicide after another businessman, Alejandro Burzaco, accused him during testimony of taking $2 million in bribes, reports the BBC. Delhon, who is the attorney for the Argentine government’s Football For All scheme, was alleged to have accepted $500,000 per year from 2011-2014 to secure the broadcasting rights to international football games. World's football governing body ,FIFA and Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) have launched an investigation into the behavior of the Copper Bullets fans during Nigeria’s 1-0 win over Zambia on Saturday evening. FIFA is reacting to photographs showing the Zambia fans displaying a banner,’H.E. E.C. LUNGU GOD BLESS YOU’ in the stands at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, in support of ‘unpopular’ Zambian president Edgar Chagwa Lungu. The organization does not allow political messages during games, which means that Zambia could be fined by football’s governing body as a result at the end of the inquiry.
