Deji Tinubu, the Special Adviser to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode on Commerce, has died.  According to reports, Deji was at a novelty march being played in Epe, yesterday January 25th, when he slumped. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Epe where he was confirmed dead. Reason for his sudden death is yet unknown. Deji and members of the state executive were in Epe for a retreat. The deceased was formerly the Chairman, Lagos Sports Commission and Special Adviser to the Governor on Sports. He was later made the Special Adviser on Sports alone. At the recent Cabinet reshuffle by Governor Ambode, Deji was redeployed to Commerce and Industry as Special Adviser before his death.

Suspect Grabs Police Woman's Breasts At A Police Station In Lagos

There was a mild-drama at a station when a 47-year old man by name Chijioke Okeiyi was arrested for allegedly handling a police woman’s br3asts at a police station in Lagos. The incident happened at Isheri Oshun Division where Okeiyi was detained in the cell for fighting in the public with members of their house. He was charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace. It's reported that Inspector Adesina Adefoluke was assaulted when she went to open the cell in order to rescue Okeiyi who was attacked by other suspects inside cell. When Okeiyi came out, he found relief on Adefoluke’s breasts, grabbed it and in the process tore her uniform. The arraignment turned into a mild drama at the Ejigbo Magistrates court when the victim Adefolunke informed the court that Okeiyi was under stress in the police cell and she went to bring him out. 2017/2018: UNILAG Postpones Merit Registration Exercise

Management of the University of Lagos wishes to inform the general public that the screening exercise of UTME candidates admitted on merit (which commenced on Monday, 4th December, 2017) has been suspended following the disruption of normal academic and administrative activities by the on-going industrial action. The Screening exercise earlier scheduled for Monday, 4th to Friday, 15th December, 2017, has been postponed till further notice. New dates would be communicated soon. New Survey Says Half Of Nigerian Girls Under 18 Years Are Not Virgins

 Lagos State Government has revealed that 24.2 percent of women in the state have their first s**ual intercourse before the age of 18 years. This is according to Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris who spoke on “Reproductive Health: Beyond Cultural Limitations and Concerns. He said the National Demographic and Health Survey and the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey reported that 24.2 percent of women in Lagos had their first s*xual intercourse before attaining the age of 18 years. “Nationally, the figures are about 51 percent. This implies that in Lagos, one out of every four women would have been exposed to s*x before 18 and the national average for Nigeria is one of two women. The difference in these figures might be attributed to several factors, such as female education, urbanization, childhood marriages and so more. “With an average age at first birth at 20 years, about 22.5 percent of pregnancies are by teenagers in Nigeria. Family member of the man who jumped into the Lagos Lagoon has reacted to the incident saying he left his Ondo state residence three days ago. The Nation reports that the family member said the man identified as Adekunle Oluseyi attended a church programme at the Redemption Camp. He reportedly took off his clothes, phone, wristwatch, wallet, band and shoes before jumping into the water at about 10am on Friday, October 20. The recovered wallet contained no cash but two ATM cards. LCCI officials on getting the news of the incident checked their CCTV and when they confirmed alerted emergency workers. LASU Professor, Oyedamola Oke, from the faulty of science has emerged as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration) of the Lagos State University (LASU). Adekoya Martins, the acting head, LASU Centre for Information, press and public relations, on Saturday in Lagos said Oke emerged as the DVC (Administration) following an election held by the University’s Senate members on Friday. He said Oke was declared the winner of the election after polling 77 votes against his opponent Prof. Banji Fajonyomi who polled 39 votes. While congratulating Oke for his emergence as the DVC (Admin), the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagbohun, said the election was credible and devoid of personal attacks and mudslinging. “Even the conduct of the two candidates after the result was announced showed that they are men of character, and I am sure they will continue to work together for the institution,” he said.
