Leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under Mazi Okwudili Ezenachukwu have warned other pro-Biafra groups against taking actions inimical to ‎the Biafra struggle. This came at a time the IPOB under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is engaging in war of words with Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State,  with the former reacting angrily after Gov. Ikpeazu said its leader lies a lot. However, the IPOB faction in a statement made available to DAILY POST, Thursday, said it was warning those claiming to be followers of the disappeared Mazi Nnamdi Kanu “to stop adhering and introducing inconsequential propagandas that are dangerous and meaningless to the holistic struggle for Biafra restoration.” IPOB has been facing leadership crisis since last year culminating in Kanu being sacked by another faction last year. The wife of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Uchechi, has spoken out on the whereabouts of her husband. Ucheche, who is based in London has maintained that her husband is in the custody of the Nigerian Army. Insisting that she is not aware of Kanu’s whereabouts, Uchechi told BBC Igbo that she is not also aware if her husband was dead or alive. She stated that the last time she spoke with Kanu was when soldiers invaded his residence in Umuahia, Abia State last year. Uchechi said,  “The IPOB people are not sleeping. BIAFRA: Nnamdi Kanu Demands $800m Compensation From FG Despite Been Proscribed!

Nnamdi KANU, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, has said that despite being granted bail by the Federal High Court in Abuja where he is being prosecuted alongside others on charges of treasonable felon , he is still entitled to the $ 800m compensation for his alleged unlawful arrest and detention in 2015. This is contained in his response to the motion filed by the Federal Government asking the Community Court of the Economic Community of West African States sitting in Abuja to dismiss a fundamental human rights enforcement suit filed by the IPOB leader. Kanu had filed the suit on March 3, 2016 demanding $ 800m as compensation from the Federal Government for his alleged unlawful arrest in 2015 and detention . ECOWAS court today said filing fresh documents every time by parties in a suit of enforcement of rights filed by the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu against the Federal government is an attitude not acceptable to the court. At the resumed hearing today, one of the judges on the three-man panel, Justice Alioune Sall told counsels that they were not in a Nigerian court but an international court which has a different way and "the process of bringing new documents every day is not allowed here." Counsel to Kanu, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor had told the court that the court had at the last sitting adjourned the case to today for definite hearing. He said, however, "two days ago, my attention was drawn to a new process filed by the Federal Government challenging the authority of the court to hear the case." Federal government has revealed that the 2,671 seized pump action rifles illegally imported into the country from Turkey could be traced to Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The government said this on Tuesday as part of its submissions before the federal high court in Abuja while opposing IPOB’s motion challenging its proscription and declaration as a terrorist organisation. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) had intercepted the rifles on four different occasions this year — in January, May, and September. In a counter-affidavit against IPOB’s motion, the government insisted that it is a violent group claiming to be non-violent. The counter-affidavit, deposed to by Ayuba Adam, a litigation officer in the Department of State Services (DSS), referred to a said visit to Kanu by Abdukadir Erahraman, a Turkish citizen, in July. Ever since the sudden disappearance of the IPOB leader following clash with the Nigerian army, his supporters have continued to ask questions.  Femi Fani-Kayode, who is one of his supporters on Sunday insisted that the Nigerian Army kidnapped the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu from his home. Mr Fani, made the allegations on his Twitter handle and also described the actions of soldiers, who “abducted” Kanu as “heartless and unacceptable.” He wrote: “IPOB leader Nnamdi Nnamdi’s home was attacked, his staff, friends and supporters were slaughtered, his siblings were maimed, his parents were brutalised, his dogs were shot, his cars were burnt and he was abducted by the Nigerian Army. This is heartless and unacceptable.”

Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has denied the claim by the Federal Government that the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is in his custody. The Federal Government had earlier replied to Abaribe’s application seeking to withdraw as one of the sureties for Kanu, describing the application as too late. But Abaribe in a reaction to a question on whether Kanu was actually in his custody, said he doesn’t know his whereabouts. The Federal Government, however, stated in its counter-affidavit that Abaribe was aware that Kanu “has long violated the bail conditions handed down by this honourable court” on April 24, 2017 before September 11 when he claimed to have lost contact with the defendant. Abaribe, however, denied knowing Kanu’s whereabouts. “I don’t know where he is. But that is a question that will be resolved by the suit we have instituted,” he told Punch.

Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday ordered Senator Eyninnaya Abaribe, and two others standing as sureties for the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, to explain the IPOB leader’s whereabout. The judge gave the senator Abaribe three options on Nnamdi Kanu. 1. Abaribe to produce the defendant in court and then apply to be discharged as a surety. 2. The judge gave was for Abaribe to be ready to forfeit his N100m bail bond. 3. Abaribe to request to be given time to produce the defendant in court. The judge insisted tha‎t Abaribe must opt for one of the three options. With the judge’s insistence, Ogechi Ogunna opted to be given time to produce him. The two other sureties were not represented in court on Tuesday. Trial of Nnamdi KANU, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra over alleged fundamental human rights violation was on Tuesday stalled following the absence of the respondent’s counsel in ECOWAS Court. Premium Times gathered that the lead counsel to the Nigerian government, Dayo Akpata, was reportedly having a meeting with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and subsequently unable to make it to Tuesday’s court session. A counsel representing the Attorney General at the court, Abdullahi Abubakar, asked for an adjournment on Tuesday, at the instance of the prosecution. Army Public Relations Director, Brig. Gen. Sani Usman, has maintained that family of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu knows where Kanu is hiding. Usman urged Nigerians to ask the younger brother and lawyer to the IPOB leader, Ifeanyi Ejiofor of Kanu’s whereabouts.
