,Uchenna Okeagwu, during the trial of billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike popularly known as Evans, told the Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja, how he paid the kidnap kingpin the sum of £223,000 as ransom for the release of his boss, Donatus Duru. 

A Lagos State High Court sitring in Ikeja on Wednesday continued the trial of deadly Nigerian Billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans. According to Dailypost, the prosecution played a video which captured Evans confessing to kidnapping and armed robbery. The State Director of Public Prosecution, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, who led the prosecution, demanded that the video clip be played. In the video the kidnap kingpin was fielding questions from a police investigative officer, Inspector Idowu Haruna. The video was played in the course of Haruna’s testimony in the case on Wednesday. Yesterday, police arrested a self-acclaimed Chairman of kidnappers operating in Niger state, Maitarari Isa Saidu. Saidu, 63, was paraded in Minna by police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, along with 48 suspects including two of his children. Moshood told newsmen in the state that the kidnap kingpin ran into trouble when his boys received and paid N400, 000 for a car which he quickly took to sell for N800, 000 in Kano. He said thirty-five stolen vehicles were recovered from Saidu. According to him, the suspects were arrested by men of ‘Operation Save Sanity’ deployed to deal with criminals within the five states. Few weeks after Rivers most deadly kidnapper Don Waney was killed, his Chief Security Officer (CSO), Johnson Igwedibia, has been shot dead by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS). Augustine Agulegbu aka Nana, Agulegbu, was the sixth in command to Don Waney and one of those who killed 23 worshippers on New Year’s Day in Omoku, Rivers State. According to security sources, Agulegbu was gunned down in his camp at a bush between Rivers and Delta states, near Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) of Rivers State on Wednesday, February 14. The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,  DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who confirmed the death of Agulegbu, assured that officers would continue to comb forests in the state in search of criminals, anywhere they might be hiding.  A federal court in Lagos , today adjourned the case of kidnapper Kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans till September 5.

A Lagos Federal High Court Judge, Justice Abdulaziz Anka, on Wednesday ordered that the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, also known as Evans against the Nigeria Police Force will proceed.
