On Thursday, a former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, retd, warned against any move to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari. Gowon said doing so would not augur well for the nation’s fledging democracy. The former Head of States said this in Abuja on Thursday while playing host to members of the Northern Leaders and Stakeholders Assembly, NLSA. He said that disagreements remain vital components of a democracy, but maintained that “such disagreements could be handled differently without necessarily taking the impeachment option.” Gowon said this against the backdrop of the submission of a report on motion for the impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari over the purchase of $496 million Tucano Aircrafts without legislators’ approval. Nigeria's former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon, has revealed how he visited the South East region after the Civil War and what the people told him concerning another war. Gowon, made the recall while expressing dismay over the incessant insecurity challenges in Nigeria. According to Daily post, Gowon said his heart bleeds over the activities of Boko Haram, herdsmen, and other armed militants, whose actions he described as man’s inhumanity to man. General Gowon this when he paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha at the Government House Owerri over the weekend.
