Indian man has been arrested for reportedly keeping the corpse of his dead mother in a deep freezer for almost three years to collect her pension every month using her thumb impression.   The incident came to light after the mutilated body of the woman was found at his home by Kolkata Police on Thursday.   Speaking to The Indian Express, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (Behala) Nilanjan Biswas said, “Bina Mazumdar’s body was stored in a refrigerator since 2015. Why her body was stored for three years is being investigated.” The police said the accused Subhabrato Mazumdar has been detained and currently being investigated. According to police sources, prima facie the lady (87) had died following a cardiac arrest. Reports said Bina was a government employee and had retired from Food Corporation of India (FCI). The grieving mother wanted to be artificially inseminated with her dead son's sperm so she could birth his children, but was told by doctors that she was medically unfit for an IVF treatment as she had already begun her menopause. To fulfill her dreams, the late son's semen was used to fertilise an egg which was given by an anonymous donor, before being implanted into a close relative. The surrogate has now given birth to twins - a boy and a girl - and the mother is raising them as her own. Indian representative, Manushi Chhillar, has won the 2017 Miss World beauty pageant TheCable reports. It is the first time an Indian will win the pageant in 17 years. Priyanka Chopra took home the coveted title in 2000. Chhillar competed against 108 aspiring beauty queens from across the world in China. She became the sixth Indian to win the Miss World title. On the Miss World website, Chhillar says she aims to be a cardiac surgeon and has plans of opening non-profit hospitals in rural areas. She also revealed that she is a trained classical dancer and has a passion for outdoor sports like scuba diving, snorkelling, and bungee jumping.
