Nigerian President , Muhammadu Buhari’s impromptu medical trip to London, UK, was predicted in January this year, by the senior pastor of Champions Royal Assembly in Kubwa, Abuja, Prophet Joshua Iginla. Iginla had released 30 prophecies for 2018 , during his church’s Crossover Night programme tagged: ‘Night of Kings’ on December 31, 2017. One of the key points was that Buhari would embark on impromptu journey based on his health. In his words: “President Muhammadu Buhari will proceed on an impromptu journey which will lead to medical vacation. He will not be poisoned, but there are many snakes around him which God will expose.” Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, had in a statement on Monday, announced his principal’s trip . Finally, National Assembly to pass 2018 Budget next week

The Nigerian Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has said that the National Assembly will ensure that the 2018 budget be passed next week. The senate president disclosed this to state house correspondents after his visit to President Buhari yesterday May 7th. In the same vein, the House of Representatives says it will pass the 2018 budget before the end of next week.  The House Committee Chairman on Media and Public Affairs made the statement while briefing journalists at the end of Thursday’s plenary. According to him, the budget will be laid before the house on Tuesday next week,according to LIB.

The Nigerian President,Muhammadu  Buhari will tomorrow Tuesday May 8th, leave Nigeria for a four-day trip to the United Kingdom to see his doctor. Buhari's senior special assistant on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, says in the course of the technical stop-over for aircraft maintenance in London on his way back from Washington last week, President Buhari had a meeting with his doctor and the doctor requested that he returned for a meeting which he agreed to do. He said Buhari would return on Saturday, May 12th. “On his return, the President’s two-day State Visit to Jigawa, which was postponed because of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s Ward Congresses will now take place on Monday 14th and Tuesday 15th May,”.

China, Nigeria sign currency swap deal

Central bank of China otherwise known as the Peoples’ Bank of China, PBoC, on Thursday revealed that it has signed a currency swap agreement with its counterpart in Nigeria. According to a statement on the official website of the PBoC, the agreement will allow the two sides to swap a total of 15 billion Chinese yuan ($2.35bn) for N720bn, or vice versa, in the next three years. It added: “The move is aimed at facilitating bilateral trade and investment and promoting the financial stability of both side. “The deal can be extended by mutual consent.”

Nigeria's Organised Labour says it will not allow the Tripartite Committee for National Minimum Wage to alter the time line for the implementation of the new wage for workers in the country. NLC President, Ayuba Wabba, said this during a Pre-May Day Symposium organised by the NLC and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) on Monday in Abuja. “We will make sure that the time line that has been set by the Tripartite Committee for the implementation of the national minimum wage will not in any way be altered or undermined”, NAN quoted him as saying. “Workers, who create wealth, must also be well taken care of as we are not unmindful of the situation of the Nigerian workers, particularly, with the increasing inflation in the land. “So, clearly speaking, the minimum wage is an issue we will continue to canvass for.  Economic Confidential has released its Annual States Viability Index (ASVI) which shows that seventeen (17) States are insolvent as their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) in 2017 were far below 10% of their receipts from the Federation Account Allocations (FAA) in the same year. The index proved that without the monthly disbursement from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), many states remain unviable, and cannot survive without the federally collected revenue, mostly from the oil sector. The IGR are generated by states through Pay-As-You-Earn Tax (PAYE), Direct Assessment, Road Taxes and revenues from Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA)s. The report further indicates that the IGR of Lagos State of N333bn is higher than that of 30 States put together whose Internally Generated Revues are extremely low and poor compared to their allocations from the Federation Account. Federal Government declares May 1st as Public Holiday

Nigerian government has declared Tuesday, May 1, 2018, as a public holiday to celebrate the 2018 Workers’ Day.   Minister of Interior, Lieutenant General Abdulrahman Dambazau (Rtd), announced this in a statement on Friday by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr M. Umar.  He congratulated Nigerian workers on their loyalty, strength of character, hard work, sacrifice and dedication to building a greater country.   General Dambazau appreciated the central role workers play in government activities and decisions, and for keeping faith with President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration in its resolve to build a better Nigeria.

Swiss government returns All Abacha's looted funds with interests'

Switzerland government says it has returned all the money kept in the country by late military disctator, Gen. Sani Abacha, with $1.5 million interest. The Assistant Director-General and Head, Global Cooperation Department, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Amb. Pio Wennubst, disclosed this in an interview with NAN in New York. According to Wennubst, the Abacha loot was originally $321 million but after calculations with interest added, $322.51 million (N116.11 billion) was sent to the Federal Government in December 2017. The Federal Government last week announced it had received $322.51 million Abacha loot from the Swiss government. The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, through her Special Adviser, Media and Communications, Oluyinka Akintunde, confirmed the receipt of money from the Switzerland government. Akintunde in a statement said “We state that $322,515,931.83 (N116,105,735,458.80) was received into a Special Account in the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) ...
