The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, has reacted to the arrest of suspected notorious killer herdsmen, Idi Gemun, Aliyu Teshaku and others by the Nigerian troops in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

There have been speculations that the Benue state governor,Samuel Ortom, was set to dump his party,The All Progressive Congress to another party to seek reelection in 2019, but it turned out the news is false as the govwrnor once again has come out to  refute the report of his alleged plan to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2019 general elections. Ortom, in recent interview stated that he remained loyal to the ruling party and had no plans to defect to another party. The governor through his Chief Press Secretary, Tever Akase, stated that the report was apparently sponsored by members of the opposition aimed at causing disaffection between him and leadership of the APC. A media personality and scholar, Farooq Kperogi, has shared a video of the herdsmen who he alleged killed two catholic priests and 17 parishioners in Benue state on April 24th dancing and jubilating wearing the church's choir robes.

Tyonyiman granted an ex parte motion brought before it by the Benue government against the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore and others over the killings in the state, Daily post reports. In the suit against Abdullahi Bello Bodejo; Huseini Yusuf Bosso; Saleh Alhasan; Alhaji Lagogi; Mallam Mumini Abdullahi; Mohammed Adamu and Ibrahim Sule; the government is seeking a redress pursuant to Section 185 (b) of the Criminal Procedure Code Cap 51 Laws of Benue State 2004. The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has stated that it was “not correct” for his security aides to have been withdrawn by the inspector general of police, Ibrahim Idris, while he was on his annual leave. He made the comments on Monday, April 30, during an interactive session with journalists, Independent reports. Ortom’s security aides, among them, his chief detail, orderly, and aide-de-camp, were reportedly transferred to other locations when he was on leave. It was gathered that, Ortom however pointed out that the most important thing was that the act had been corrected; whether it was done in “error or mischief”. He said aides were restored the very next day, after the state government had called the IGP’s attention to the matter. 72 Commandant Battalion in Makurdi , Benue State , Lt .- Col . Suleiman Mohammed, on Saturday , paraded three herdsmen captured by troops in the state,Punch reports. The herdsmen were said to have been captured by soldiers on patrol last Thursday while planning another deadly attack on the Guma Local Government Area of the state. Mohammed said the herdsmen had engaged the troops in a fierce battle before three of them were captured . One of them was said to have been wounded. The herdsmen were identified as Abubakar Umaru , Yusuf Yaro and Adam Likita. A Nigerian journalist,Ahmad Salkida,known to have access to the leadership of Boko Haram, says Aliyu Tashaku, the insurgent commander, captured in Benue state, once shared a cell with Mohammed Yusuf, founder of the sect. The army arrested Tashaku, who is head of Benue livestock guards, the group enforcing compliance of the anti-grazing law in the state, on Friday. There's  Heavy protest ongoing in every part of Nigeria as instructed by CAN to commiserate with the killings of their Clergy colleagues Rev. Fathers , Joseph Gor and Felix Tyolaha alongside 18 others.  Christians faithfuls nationwide have taken to the streets to protest killings by suspected herdsmen. It could be recalled, last week Queendoosh reported of a deadly  shooting incidence carried out by herdsmen at Mbalom,Gwer-east area of Benue state which claimed the lives of 19 persons and over 20 others at Tse-ali agudu in Benue state. Similarly, they have been killings going on in every part of the country as a result of herdsmen's attack. Another bloody weekend in Benue state as some suspected herdmen on Saturday night killed  5 persons and injured over 20 persons at Tse Agagbe, in Sengev Council Ward of Gwer West LGA. Accirding to reports, the attackers stormed the village at about 9pm on Saturday and opened fire at residents of the area. Over 15 houses were reportedly set on fire during the attack. A resident of the area, who gave his name as Terungwa, called on security agencies to come to their aide. “Security agencies should take note of the ugly incident as most of the defenseless villagers are running in the bushes for their lives,” he said.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo's led  National Economic Council, NEC, in April 26th, agreed to stop the movement of herdsmen in the country, starting with Benue, Taraba, Adamawa, Kaduna and Plateau.  The meeting which had in attendance state governors, approved the creation of ranches across the country.
