Media aide to embattled senator Dino Melaye,Gideon Ayodele has said that his principal is currently at the Police Medical Centre in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, hours after a magistrate remanded the senator in police custody. Gideon also disclosed that the senator’s lawyers would file fundamental rights enforcement at the Federal High Court, Lokoja, on Friday morning. He said the lawyers believe the decision to remand Mr Melaye in police custody was flawed. He noted that the team would spare no effort in ensuring that Melaye does not spend six weeks in custody as ruled by Mr Abdullah. “It is important that we approach the Federal High Court tomorrow morning,” Ayodele added. The police arraigned Mr Melaye before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lokoja on Thursday on seven counts of criminal conspiracy and unlawful possession of firearms. The police operatives had reportedly told the embattled lawmaker that they were taking him to court in the metropolis of the nation’s capital but suddenly made a detour to move him to Kogi state. Its a bad week for controversial  Kogi lawmaker, Dino Melaye as operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad on Tuesday morning arrested the  embattled senator again. According to reliable sources, the lawmaker was arrested by the SARS and subsequently detained in a facility located opposite the old CBN junction along the Area 1 Expressway. The SARS detention facility is known for imprisoning hardened criminals arrested for theft, murder, cultism and other criminal acts. Daily post reports that when the fiery lawmaker was contacted on phone he sounded rattled, as background conversation suggested a struggle between himself and some of the operatives, after which his mobile lines were switched off. This announcement comes after this morning's jailbreak at the 'A' Division Lokoja where two suspected assassins linked to Melaye fled police custody alongside four other criminals.

Ex-Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has lashed out at Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State after herdsmen murdered 25 people on Thursday. Fani-Kayode, writing on his Twitter page, said he hoped Bello who is a “staunch supporter of Buhari, is clapping for himself”. He tweeted:  “Fulani herdsmen killed 25 innocent people in Kogi state today and abducted 2 WAEC officials in Oyo state. “I sincerely hope that the Governor of Kogi state, who is a staunch supporter of Buhari, is clapping for himself. “Those who ride on a tiger’s back usually end up in its stomach.” The herdsmen were said to have attacked two communities in Dekina local government area namely Oganienugwu and Ikende and also Abejukolo in Omala local government area, all in the Eastern Senatorial district of the state. Villagers were reportedly moving out of Obakume, Idirisu and Oji Apata to escape the rampaging Fulani herdsmen.

Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello who is notorious for owing workers salaries and arrears runing into 22-months has been accused by Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye for allegedly  importing restricted security gadgets without end user declaration in the Custom papers. This stunning revelation was made on the floor of the Senate today  Thursday. He explained that the Nigeria Customs has intercepted the items which were in the custody of Nigeria Aviation Handling Company of Nigeria (NAHCO). Nigerian Government will on March 1, 2018 arraign Senator Dino Melaye before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja on two counts of giving false information about an assassination attempt on his life to the police in April 2017.  

Governor of Kogi state, His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello recently donated the sum of N10,805,000.00 to 2,161 Corps members deployed to Benue and Taraba states. The governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, who is owing kogi workers running into a year has stated  that no amount of criticism can stop President Muhammadu Buhari from seeking a second term, come 2019.

According to Facebook user Jibrin Ishaq Akagwu,a man identified as Mallam Shehu Abdul has hanged himself in early hours of Tuesday in Kaduna Efekpe Anyigba in Dekina local government Area of Kogi State due to hardship. The deceased relative, Hamza Abdul, reveal that Shehu was a member of Nigerian Motor Cycle Transport Association (NIMOTA) Anyigba branch  and had threatened to kill himself due to hardship.  See his report below..

On Wednesday, the police arrested and paraded 30 notorious kidnap and armed robbery suspects terrorising Kogi State and neighbouring states. According to reports, those arrested are suspected to be behind the kidnap and murder of Jose Machada, a Portuguese engineer with Dangote Cement Company in Obajana, a senior staff of same company, Istifanus Bello and many innocent Nigerians. Parading the suspects before newsmen at the Kogi Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood said the arrests were in response to the inspector-general of Police, Ibrahim Idris' directive to rid the nation of crime. Among items recovered from them are 11 AK-47 riffles, two Berettapistols, two Revolver pistols, 334 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition, a dagger, cutlass and military camouflage uniforms. A Court of Appeal in Abuja on Monday declared the seat for the Kogi East senatorial district vacant. The judgement was delivered by Justice Abdul Aboki on a pre-election matter instituted before the appellate court. The case was instituted by Mr. Aidoko in a continued a legal battle with Mr. Alfa, claiming to be the authentic candidate of the PDP for that election after INEC declared the latter the winner of the seat. Nigeria's electoral body, has allegedly 'indict' the governor of Kogi state in new reports. The electoral body,  Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, engaged in double registration during the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in his state, effectively violating the Electoral Act. The commission stated this in a statement issued Thursday night by the National Commissioner & Member, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu. He said , following reports of alleged double registration by the governor of Kogi State in the on-going CVR exercise, the commission had set up a panel of investigation into the involvement of staff in the matter. They also explained that the initial report submitted by the panel was referred to the Appointment, Promotion and Disciplinary Committee, which made recommendations to the commission. Civil servants hardship is far from over as another worker, a 47-year-old Abdullahi Uye Zhiya from Oguma in Bassa Local Government Area of the state is said to have taken his own life, barely one month after a top civil servant committed suicide in Kogi State over non-payment of salaries. DailySun reported that Zhiya was said to have terminated his own life due to frustrations he encountered as a result of non-payment of 12 months’ salaries owed him. He was reportedly said to have killed himself by drinking a liquid substance suspected to be poisonous chemical.
