Miyetti Allah and some herdmen today caused confusion at a Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, after they storm the court premises in a large numbers. The herders were at the court seeking for justice against the Anti-Open Grazing law in Benue State over  the delay in delivery of judgement on the matter.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, on Monday denied involvement in the killings and attacks in Benue State. The Chairman of the group in Benue State, Ubbi Haruna, spoke during a stakeholders meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in Makurdi, the state capital. Haruna ,said the allegations that the group was behind the killings of innocent people of the state was “totally misleading.” Haruna said, “The association has always appreciated peaceful and harmonious coexistence between farmers and herdsmen. “Going forward, there will be peace in the state. Let bygones be bygones to allow peace and security to prevail.”

Nigeria's president Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a stakeholder meeting with various groups in Benue State in the bid to find a lasting solution to the incessant attacks and killings in the state. President Buhari, who arrived Makurdi Airport at 10:43 a.m. held the meeting at the Government House in Makurdi, the Benue State Capital. The meeting had in attendance, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom and other top government officials in the state. According to a new report on DAILY POST, some new insights have been provided into the recent raid of Omosu village of Edumoga community in Okpokwu local government area of Benue state by suspected herdsmen, with unconfirmed sources saying that the attackers were aided by persons from a rival community. The Benue State Police Command had earlier confirmed that 24 natives and a herdsman were killed in the attack on Omosu village, while another herder got missing. Speaking with newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, narrated that some youths in Okpokwu had engaged some herdsmen in a fight, adding that the fracas led to killing of some cows while two herdsmen were found missing. Benue State police command have confirmed 25 people were killed in the aftermath of attack on Omusu village in Edumoga community of Okpokpwu Local Government Area of the state. Daily post reports that, the State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, spoke to newsmen on Wednesday in Makurdi. Owoseni explained that aside from the 24 people killed in the Idoma speaking Omusu village, a herder was also killed while another was missing. He said four persons were under interrogation in connection with the killings. Narrating the incident, he said some youths in Okpokwu had engaged some herdsmen in a fight. By Uja Emmanuel Governor Samuel Ortom has visited Omusu community, Edumoga where Fulani herdsmen massacred over 40 people. Hon Francis Olofu Ogwuche, chairman Okpokwu council told the governor he had earlier visited the community for a peace meeting. According to him, shortly after he left the place he received a distress call that Fulani men have invaded the area killing and maiming children and women. He said he immediately mobilised security agencies to the scene but the attackers had already fled leaving death and destruction of properties. Gov Ortom condemned the attack on this community and charged security agencies to arrest the perpetrators of this dastardly act. The community has been deserted for fear of further attacks and the dead bodies have been deposited at the morgue of a government medical facility at Okpoga.  Police Command in Benue state has confirmed the death of 15 women and children after a clash between some herdsmen and irate youths in Okpokwu LGA of Benue state yesterday March 5th. A statement by the state police command says it received information earlier in the day that some Irate Youths from Omutu had engaged some Herdsmen in a fight, killing some cows, while two (2) Herdsmen were found missing. A peace meeting was immediately initiated with the Chairman of the LGA and the Head of the Fulani Community in the area, while a Police Search Party went in search of the 2 missing Herdsmen. One of them was found dead. Unfortunately, as the search and peace meeting were ongoing, some Herdsmen surreptitiously went on rampage, resulting in matcheting to death of 15 persons mainly women and children, while some houses were set ablaze. Four suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder. An extensive patrol of the community is ongoing.

No fewer than 20 people have been reported killed and 300 cows stolen following a fresh outbreak of ethnic violence on the Mambilla Plateau in Sardauna Local Government Area of Taraba State, local officials and residents confirm. A fleeing resident, Saadu Mogoggo, who said his house was attacked at Leme suburb of Gembu, said two of his brothers were killed on Saturday evening and their cattle rustled by a group he identified as the Mambilla Militia.  “As I am talking to you, we are yet to bury their corpses,” he said to PREMIUM TIMES on Sunday. ‘’The ethnic militias attacked our residence in Leme where they killed our father last month. During this attack, the Mambillas took away our over 100 cows. My two younger brothers reported the matter to a nearby military base and a soldier was attached as escort to retrieve the stolen cows. According to reports by the Benue state government, suspected herdsmen have killed more than 1,500 people including farmers, policemen and soldiers in Benue State communities in 47 different attacks in the last three years, the state government has declared.

The Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom on saturday condemned the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, for blaming the incessant killing of natives by herdsmen on the state’s anti-open grazing law, saying the IGP’s stance portrays him as deceitful and complicit in the murders.

Earlier today ,the social media was thrown into confusion over comment made by one Professor Umar Labdo Muhammad. where he stated that, 'BENUE STATE BELONGS TO THE FULANI BY RIGHT OF CONQUEST'.  He wrote; Benue State belongs to the Fulani people by right of conquest. This is because half of the state is part of the Bauchi Emirate and the other half is part of the Adamawa Emirate. Benue is therefore part and parcel of the Sokoto Caliphate. So no one has the right to expel the Fulani from Benue under any guise. Second to the Arabs, perhaps the Fulani are the most benevolent and merciful conquerors in history. No fewer than seven people have been reported killed in a fresh attack carried out by suspected herdsmen in Logo and Guma Local Government Areas of Benue state.

Just like what is happening in Nigeria at the moment, its been experienced in Ghana. In a video currently trending online, the government of Ghana has declared war on cattle rearers. In the video, you could hear the police force in the country declaring war on herdsmen. The head of force asked his men to shot everything they see in sight. According to PUNCH , the Federal Government has appealed to the media and public commentators to exercise utmost restraint in their coverage of the fallouts of the recent farmers/herders’ clash in Benue State in order not to further inflame passion and worsen the situation. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said while the Federal Government was  working hard to address the situation with a view to preventing a recurrence, not just in Benue State but everywhere across the country, it was incumbent on the media and public commentators not to engage in actions that can aggravate the crisis.
