Some heavily masked men of the Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken over guard duties at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.  This development comes after the invasion and stealing of the mace by thugs sponsored by suspended lawmaker, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on April 18th. The mace has since been found and returned to the chamber. Senate President in reaction to the incident, called for improved security within the National Assembly premises. According to the senate president, the attack on the red chambers by the thugs, was an assault on democracy and the rule of law. According to reports, operatives of the Department of Security Service (DSS) have arrested a retired military officer for an alleged attempt to create a political crisis in Kano State.

Daily Post reports that some armed security operatives Monday evening stormed the home of immediate past Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Dauda Muhammed The official residence is located at No 3 Osara Lane, off Osara Close, Maitama District of Abuja. The operatives are believed to be officials of the Department of State Security (DSS). It was gathered that they were at the building to evict the ambassador. There was a mild drama on Tuesday as operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) and those of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) prevented the EFCC from arresting Ita Ekpenyong and Ayodele Oke, former Director Generals of the respective agencies. According to reports, the face-off between the law enforcement agencies took place on Mamman Nasir Street, in Asokoro District, Abuja, where the Ekpenyong and Oke’s residences are located. The incident led to a traffic gridlock in the area and the atmosphere was charged as armed personnel from the affected agencies quarrel among themselves. Ekpenyong was sacked as DSS DG by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2015, barely a month after he was sworn into power.
