DSS operatives takes over security at the National Assembly,masked men seen at the entrance

Some heavily masked men of the Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have taken over guard duties at the National Assembly complex in Abuja.  This development comes after the invasion and stealing of the mace by thugs sponsored by suspended lawmaker, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege on April 18th. The mace has since been found and returned to the chamber. Senate President in reaction to the incident, called for improved security within the National Assembly premises. According to the senate president, the attack on the red chambers by the thugs, was an assault on democracy and the rule of law. In an apparent response to Saraki's call for improved security, the National Assembly this morning witnessed heavy presence of police and DSS operatives. Daily Post reports that some armed security operatives Monday evening stormed the home of immediate past Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Dauda Muhammed The official residence is located at No 3 Osara Lane, off Osara Close, Maitama District of Abuja. The operatives are believed to be officials of the Department of State Security (DSS). It was gathered that they were at the building to evict the ambassador. Dauda last month appeared before the House of Representatives Committee on Public Safety over $44 million missing from the NIA. President Muhammadu Buhari had appointed Dr Abubakar Rufa’i as new NIA boss.

As tension continues to mount in some parts of the country conscerning the recent killings which has claimed many lives and 73 in Benue state. The Department of States Services has release their report claiming that  the Islamic State in West Africa network are operating within some North Central and South-South sections of Nigeria, PUNCH reports. The DSS said their presence may be responsible for the recent killings recorded in Benue State and other parts of the country. This information is said to be contained in an intelligence report presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by security agencies, including the Department of State Service. Cabal Fight Gets Messier!! DSS, NIA Officials Prevent EFCC From Arresting Ayo Oke, Ekpenyong

There was a mild drama on Tuesday as operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) and those of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) prevented the EFCC from arresting Ita Ekpenyong and Ayodele Oke, former Director Generals of the respective agencies. According to reports, the face-off between the law enforcement agencies took place on Mamman Nasir Street, in Asokoro District, Abuja, where the Ekpenyong and Oke’s residences are located. The incident led to a traffic gridlock in the area and the atmosphere was charged as armed personnel from the affected agencies quarrel among themselves. Ekpenyong was sacked as DSS DG by President Muhammadu Buhari in July 2015, barely a month after he was sworn into power.
