Sen. David Mark, reveals why he sued the Nigerian government

Nigeria's former Senate President, David Mark has explained why he took the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property to a Federal High Court, Abuja. In the suit, Mark claimed that the panel planned to evict him from his residential property, which he duly acquired, according to Daily post. The Federal Government had accused Mark of illegally acquiring his then official residence as his private property. The panel had given him 21 days, within which to vacate the property. In the quit notice endorsed by the Chairman of the Presidential panel, Okoi Obono Obla, the former Senate President was directed to ‘show cause’ why the Federal Government should not enforce the recovery of the property for public good. Mark is praying for an order restraining the panel from taking any steps or action aimed at evicting him from the mansion. Nigeria's former Senate President, David Mark, has called on Nigerians to get their voters’ cards to remove the All Progressives Congress, (APC)from power in the forthcoming general elections, Daily Post reports. Mark made the charge at Ugbokolo in Okpokwu Local Government of Benue state during the funeral service of the wife of the former minister of Interior, Abba Moro, Mrs Veronica Moro. The former Senate President said he was ashamed that the government had become docile as it watched helplessly while the country bled on a daily basis. “We should all go out and register because our country is bleeding. We need to register and change this change,” he said.

Senator , David Mark Lands In EFCC's Custody Over 5.4Billion Slush Funds

Nigeria's anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,EFCC, on Thursday grilled senator David Mark in connection with alleged N5.4billion slush funds. He is under probe for curious payment made to him by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) under Sambo Dasuki. Similarly, a former Minister of State for Niger Delta, Sam Ode is being probed over N2billion campaign funds meant for Benue State. According to The Nation,Mark reported to the EFCC at about 1.45pm. He had, late last year, presented a medical certificate to the commission agency that he was not fit enough to “be able to write a statement”. Mark is accused of receiving N200m-N550m arms procurement cash from ONSA; N2.9billion curious payment into the account of the National Assembly’s account and shared to Senators during Mark’s tenure; his role in about N2billion campaign funds meant for Benue State; and illegal purchase of a N748million official residence of the Senate Presiden...

Federal government has asked ex-senate president David Mark to pack out of his residence, saying he illegally acquired it from the government when he was president. In September the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property, which is chaired by Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, gave the former Senate President a 21-day notice to quit the mansion. The panel asked Mark to “show cause” why the Federal Government should not “enforce the recovery of the property for public good.” But Mark had quickly filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja to quash all steps taken by the panel to evict him and recover the house from him. The case has not been heard.

Federal University In Benue State To Be Named After Senator David Mark

Nigerian Senate president, Bukola Saraki, has hinted that the proposed Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, might be named after his predecessor, Senator David Mark. Saraki dropped the hint at the public hearing on the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo (Establisment) Bill 2017 held in Abuja on Monday. The bill was sponsored by Mark. The Senate President, who was represented at the the event by the Chief Whip, Senator Sola Adeyeye, said there had been calls for naming the yet-to-be-established institution after Mark. Former senate president, David Mark has narrated the conditions surrounding the sack of ex-pension reform boss Abdulrasheed Maina during the Goodluck Jonathan administration. According to him, the senate had to threaten and bully the executive to sack Maina. The three time senate President and longest serving Nigerian senator,  David Mark representing Benue South senatorial district finally sponsored a bill for the first time in two years as a floor member at the eighth National Assembly. The PDP and Benue south Senator spoke as a floor senator at the red chamber for the first time in two years. Sen.Mark , spoke to push for an act to establish the Federal University of Health Science, Otukpo. He dropped this Bill during Wednesday's plenary.

Former President of the Senate, Senator David Mark has lamented over the demise of former Chief of Army Staff ( COAS) General Victor Malu whom he described as a gallant soldier.
