e people's Democratic Party during the weekend took their campaign to the state of the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, in Katsina state and it was quite shocking at the mammoth crowd that came out to show their support owing to the fact that the president was a member of the All Progressive Congress. During the campaign, people of the state cried out over the hunger allegedly brought upon them and other Nigerians by the federal government led by their kinsman, President Muhammadu Buhari. This is just as residents of the state vowed to chase out hunger from the land in 2019. While addressing members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in Katsina on Saturday, PDP chairman, Uche Secondus said Nigeria could not afford to witness another four years under Buhari. On Friday, Nigeria's president , Muhammadu Buhari travellef out of the nation’s capital, Abuja for a condolence visit at his home town. He traveled to his hometown, Daura, Katsina state, to condole with the people on the passing of Senator Mustapha Bukar. Bukar, 63, who was representing Katsina North in the Senate, died on Wednesday after a brief illness. The President will be back to Abuja on Sunday. Bukar’s body was committed to earth same day at the Daura central cemetery. Late Bukar’s colleagues at the Senate, who attend the funeral included Ahmed Lawan, Aliyu Wammako, Abu Ibrahim and Umar Kurfi. Other dignitaries at the burial were Deputy Governor of Katsina state, Alhaji Manir Yakubu and Speaker of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Abubakar Kusada, who led members of the House. The funeral prayer was performed by the Chief Imam of Daura, Malam Salisu Rabe, at the Emir’s palace.

According to reports, thirteen cows have died following an outbreak of a cattle disease identified as Contagious Bovine Pleuro Pneumonia, CBPP in Katsina State.  

 Katsina State governor, Aminu Masari, has launched a programmed to empower secondary school students with goats in the state. According to a report by DailyNigerian, the programme was launched at the Government Girls Arabic Secondary School, Dutsinma on Saturday. Speaking during the inauguration, the State Commissioner for Education, Halimatu Idris while representing the Governor, said the programme was aimed at empowering students to be self-reliant. Mrs Idris, a professor, said the goat empowerment programme was part of the Masari administration’s efforts toward improving the lives of the people and development of education in the state. She said the state government had selected 20 secondary schools in each of the three senatorial zones for the take-off of the programme. In August last year, the state government said it purchased 4,500 goats as against 720 reported.
