Trouble In SDP As Party Splits Into Factions Ahead Of 2019

As 2019 draw near, there are alot of tension registered in so many political parties ahead of the general elections.  In a new drama, Social Democratic Party, SDP, which is somehow becoming popular, has split into two factions in the South-East geopolitical zone, according to Daily post. In separate meetings the two factions held in Enugu, weekend, the two factions accused each other of promoting political mischief. The factions led by the National Organising Secretary of the party, Chief Emeka Atuma held their meeting at Utopia Hotel, while the second faction led by the National Vice Chairman, Senator Ebenezer Ikeyina held their own meeting in Tomlyin Hotel, all in Independence layout, Enugu. APC and PDP has suffered major lost as over a hundred thousand people in Adamawa State have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the Social Democratic Party (SDP). National Chairman of SDP, Chief Olu Falae stated this Wednesday during the official decamping rally of Chief Emmanuel Bello to SDP at the Lamido Cinema of Adamawa State. “I have come to receive Chief Emmanuel Bello and a hundred thousand others who have dumped APC and PDP to join SDP from today they have become a bonafide member in the state. “SDP has been in existence since the year 1982 during Abiola and Kingibe’s regime adding that Bello is a man who believes in Changing the Change,” he stated. Former member of the House of Representatives Chief Emmanuel Bello has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). The former lawmaker has also announced intention to contest for Adamawa State governorship position in 2019. Bello, who earlier quit the Peoples Democratic Party, for the APC, stated this yesterday during a press briefing at his residence in Dougirei, Yola. He said he defected from the APC to the SDP to seek refuge and get social justice for his people in Adamawa State. “Since I became a member of APC in Adamawa State, I have never been invited for a meeting of any structure of the party in the state. Three chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to dump the former ruling party which they were co-founders to a new platform. Ex-Information Minister, Jerry Gana, ex-Education Minister Tunde Adeniran and ex-Niger Delta Minister Godsday Orubebe are moving to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) which is merging with the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Peoples Salvation Party (PSP) to form a formidable party ahead of next year’s elections. The Nation reports,that aggrieved party chieftains launched into a marathon meeting/negotiation with the leadership of SDP on Thursday night in Abuja for a merger.
