Former Benue governor, Gabriel Suswam Talks Tough Over Killing of 2 Priest, others in Benue State

Following the recent attack in Benue community where over 20 persons were killed. The fomer Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam and a former speaker, Benue State House of Assembly, Mr Terhile Ayua, on Wednesday condemned the killing of worshippers in the state on Tuesday. They also sent their condolences to the Catholic Church and the people of the state over the killings of two priests and  other worshippers by alleged herdsmen during a mass on Tuesday. Suswam, in a statement he personally signed said the killings were becoming a recurring decimal with the usual condemnations after which nothing would happen. “Words fail me to convey my feelings of grief at this sad occurrence, neither can another mere condemnation of such a dastardly heinous act suffice. “It is becoming a tragic routine to witness those killings and issue condemnation to them, after which they continue,” he said. More trouble for former Benue state governor,Gabriel Suswam as the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), seals three of his properties in  Benue State. The inscription ‘EFCC keep off’ were sprawled across his properties. They include the Metropolitan hotel along FMC road, a residential building still under construction by the river side and his family home in HUDCO quarters all in Makurdi. This development might be connected with the alleged misappropriation of N107 billion by Suswam as contained in the Justice Elizabeth Kpojime’s Panel of Inquiry which indicted 52 other people. Ex Governor Suswam, Still In EFCC Custody Overn 23Billion LOOT

Nigeria's anti-graft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), on thursday questioned and detained former Benue state Governor, Gabriel Suswam, over his role in the sharing of the state’s share of the N23 billion, which the former Petroleum Minister, Alison Madueke, allegedly doled out as a bribe to influence the outcome of the 2015 general election. Suswam, who is facing other charges for alleged corruption, arrived at the premises of the EFCC around 10 a.m. He was immediately taken in for interrogation on the N450 million, which the Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got as its own share of the election booty. Sources in the commission said the former governor was detained in order to determine all that he knew about the N450 million that he purportedly collected from a bank and what he did with the money. It could be recalled that in 2014, Governor Ortom Samuel referred to the All Progressive Congress, APC , as an acronym for "Aggrieved Politicians Congress" said Suswam.
