Tension In Abuja As Shiite Members Stage A #FreeElzakzaky Protest, Security Officials on High Alert
The #FreeElzakzaky protest by Shiite Moslems has again started. The aggrieved followers of El-zakzaky are protesting the continued incarceration of their leader by the Federal Government. As at the time of writing this report (1.20pm), they were sighted at Skye bank junction close to forte oil Gas Station, by Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Maitama, close to Unity Fountain, Abuja. FRSC officials have also notified of a gathering of more of the protesters around IBB Boulevard by MTN office. You may recall that the protest which started last Thursday and held around the Maitama, Wuse 2 axis has turned violent in the last two days. Meanwhile, security officials are on high alert to prevent breakdown of law and order, as some Armoured Personnel Carriers were seen blaring sirens around the the area.
