Body of Former Nigeria's Vice President, Alex Ekwueme who died last year in Londond has arrived Nigeria for burial. . He will be buried on February 2nd. Meanwhile the Nigeria's Minister Of  Labour  and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, yesterday said the Federal Government has spent over N1 Billion on Ekwueme’s burial, Vanguard reports .  Dr. Chris Ngige, after visiting Oko to inspect preparations for the burial, expressed satisfaction with the level of work already done.  He said:  “I am reasonably satisfied with the preparations. I was here last week for inspection and between then and now, work has progressed. The contractors have assured us that all the roads leading into Oko will be very motorable before the burial ceremonies start on  February 1 at Oko.  “The tomb, which is being financed by the Federal Government, is okay and the contractors have assured us that it will be handed over to us  on Tuesday. According to PUNCH , the Federal Government has appealed to the media and public commentators to exercise utmost restraint in their coverage of the fallouts of the recent farmers/herders’ clash in Benue State in order not to further inflame passion and worsen the situation. In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said while the Federal Government was  working hard to address the situation with a view to preventing a recurrence, not just in Benue State but everywhere across the country, it was incumbent on the media and public commentators not to engage in actions that can aggravate the crisis. He said,  ”Lest we are misunderstood, we are neither saying the media should not cover the crisis nor asking public commentators to desist from commenting on it. Dr.Alex Ekwueme Dies In London

Nigerian Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, who was flown abroad for medical attention after rumors that he was dead a week ago has passed on to glory. Ekwueme,was aged 85. The elder statesman was flown to a UK hospital last week Sunday to continue his treatment for a chest infection. A statement from his family signed by his brother and the traditional ruler of Oko in Anambra State, Igwe Laz Ekwueme said that he died by 10:00 pm in a London clinic, Sunday. The statement read: “Ekwueme family regrets to announce the peaceful passing away of their patriarch, the former Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Dr. Alex Ifeanyichukwu Ekwueme GCON. The sad event occurred at the London Clinic at 10:00 pm on Sunday 19th November 2017.” The former Vice President was rushed to the Memfys Neurosurgery Hospital Enugu early last month after he slumped at his residence. Dr.Alex Ekwueme Flown Abroad For Treatment

Nigeria's Former Vice President, Alex Ekwueme, has been flown abroad for medical treatment ,Vanguard reports. It could be recalled that ,Dr.Ekwueme, was brought to the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu at about 7:26am on Sunday in a National Orthopedic Hospital Enugu, in an SUV ambulance. Vanguard reports that he was driven straight into the tarmac, where he was transfered into a waiting air ambulance with registration number N605 JA. According to the report, the Air Ambulance had arrived the airport late Saturday evening and spent the night. Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari had few weeks ago approved foreign medical treatment for Ekwueme.

Earlier today, there was news making round that a former vice prrsident of Nigeria and elder statesman ,Dr. Alex Ekwueme had died in london but it turned out the information was false. A family source which spoke with one of our correspondence directly , told us the news was not true and further claims that he was responding to treatment. The source also revealed that preparations are still ongoing to fly him abroad for immediate medical attention and asked the the general public to ignore the news making rounds online that Dr. Ekwueme had died. We wish him more years.
