A Court of Appeal, sitting in Benin on Friday upheld the election of Edo governor, Godwin Obaseki, of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Election petitions tribunal sitting in Benin, Edo State, has affirmed the victory of Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the gubernatorial elections held on September 28, 2016.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the September 28 Edo State governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and his party on Monday commenced the tendering of documentary evidence in support of their petition at the state election petitions tribunal.

Edo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Benin, on Tuesday granted an exparte motion to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate in the September 28 governorship election, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, to inspect all materials used in the conduct of the election. Presenting the nine-paragraph affidavit before the Hon. Justice A. Badamasi-led Tribunal, Counsel to the Petitioners, Barr. Edo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, on Friday, led other PDP leaders and supporters in the state in a street protest against the declaration by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of Godwin Obaseki of the All Progressives Congress  (APC) as winner of the September 28 election in the state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has commenced evaluation and appraisal of personnel and materials deployed in the just concluded governorship election in Edo state.

AU, domestic observers fault conduct of Edo governorship election saying the result announced by INEC did not tally with those his group got from the field.

INEC has finally ,declared APC governorship candidate, Godwin Obaseki, winner of the Edo state governorship election. According to the electoral body, Obaseki polled a total of 319,483 votes while his main rival and PDP candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, polled 253,173 votes. Congrats to him.

The electoral commission, INEC, has announced the results of nine of the 18 local governments in Edo State.
