Anambra State Police Command has arrested an 11-man car snatching syndicate operating in the state. While parading the suspects before newsmen, the state Commissioner of police, Garba Umar, said it recovered 11 exotic cars of various brands which were stolen from their owners at gunpoint by the suspects. The cars ranging from Lexus, Mercedes Benz and Toyota products were paraded alongside the suspects. The police boss added that the suspects would be charge to court for prosecution at the end of investigation.

No fewer than four police officers have been killed while 11 others have gone missing after some gunmen laid an ambush on a police patrol team in Anyibe to Ayilamo in Logo local government area of Benue state over the weekend. A statement by the police command's spokesperson, Moses Yamu, says a vehicle belonging to the police officers was set on fire while some houses were also burnt in the wake of the attack. “Sadly, at the moment, four casualties have been suffered by the police. Additional reinforcement (including the air asset of the police) deployed by the inspector-general of police is in pursuit of the murderous gang. They shall definitely be apprehended with their weapons of destruction and made to face the full wrath of the law.” Yamu said in the statement

Some gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have killed two students of the Federal University, Lafia. One of the students killed had graduated with first class from the economics department and was processing his final clearance while the other was in 400 level, English Department. The gunmen had stormed the students’ village at Mararaba-Akunza, opposite the university gate at about 10:30pm on Wedsnesday night and shot sporadically. The bullets hit the victims. One of them died on the spot while the other one died while being rushed to the hospital. The remains of the two students have been deposited at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia.
