Despite the tension it generated after the public learnt religious knowledge was removed from schools curriculum, the House of Representatives on Tuesday ordered the removal of Christian Religious Knowledge and Islamic Religious Studies from the secondary school curriculum of the subject, Civic education.

This is a report by Premium Times ; A Federal lawmaker Herman Hembe who represents Vandikwa/Konshisha constituency of Benue State was not the valid candidate of Nigeria’s ruling All Progressives Congress, APC after Supreme court sacked him on Friday.

NewsPunch 05:08:00 A + A - Print Email A former Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Mr. Abdulmumin Jibrin, made a fresh allegation on Thursday that the bank accounts of some principal officers of the House of Representatives had been frozen.

Suspended lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has reacted to the invitation by the House of Representatives, to appear before its Committee on Ethics and Privileges, over two fresh petitions received from members of his constituency and the National Youth Council.Members of his constituency in Kiru/Bebeji in Kano State had petitioned the house over his absenteeism and poor representation while the National Youth Council of Nigeria petitioned the house for allegedly operating foreign accounts which was in violation of the 1999 Constitution as amended. The house moved a motion yesterday to invite him over for hearing of these petitions.

The house of representatives has passed a resolution allowing Abdulmumin Jibrin into the national assembly premises for the purpose of defending himself before the ethics and privileges committee, following fresh petitions against him.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is probing 25 members of the House of Representatives over alleged N90billion botched budget padding.
