Egypt footballer and Liverpool player, Mohamed Salah is now all alone with the English Premier League goal record, netting his 32nd in a season in the first half of the match between Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

World's football governing body, FIFA ,has announced it will advance $2 million in prize money to each of the five African teams that have qualified for the World Cup to help them prepare for the tournament, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said. Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal and Tunisia have qualified for the tournament in Russia, and CAF president Ahmad Ahmad said in a statement that the money would be used “to settle beforehand the question of bonuses due the players.”   Disputes over payments at previous tournaments “had led to situations that affected badly the image of African football, with a considerable impact on team performances,” he added.   Last year, Nigeria’s football federation (NFF) signed an agreement with its players pledging to avoid the bonus and pay rows that have blighted past World Cup campaigns. According to reports, Barcelona midfielder, Andres Iniesta will leave the club at the end of this season, with the Spain international ready to pursue a new challenge elsewhere. Arsenal have emerged as potential suitors for the veteran midfielder, with Manchester City and clubs from the MLS and China also in the race for his signature. Spanish newspaper, AS reports that the Gunners feel they can get a deal done if Enrique replaces Wenger in the Emirates dugout. Enrique managed Iniesta for three years at Barcelona before taking a rest from coaching. The duo won nine trophies together, with Iniesta’s performances in midfield helping the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to shine. The newspaper however stated that Arsenal are not the only club keen on signing the Barcelona star.

This is certainly a good news for all gunners fans as Arsenal’s longest serving manager, Arsene Wenger, has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of this season. Wenger revealed this in a statement published on the club’s official website on Friday morning. Egypt star&Liverpool winger, Mohammed Salah, has won the Champions League Goal of the Week (for the quarter-finals). Salah took the prize ahead of Real Madrid superstar, Cristiano Ronaldo. According to Daily post, Salah took the vote for his delightful dink against Manchester City in the last eight. It has left many neutral fans to question whether or not the award deserved to go to Cristiano Ronaldo for his spectacular overhead effort against Juventus. Despite earning a standing ovation from the Juve supporters for his stunning acrobatic finish, Ronaldo finished second in the official UEFA poll, roughly 10% behind Salah. Iranian soccer officials in hot waters after it was dis overed that the  women’s soccer team were filled with eight big, strong, fast men. Iranian soccer officials are accused of taking advantage of a sports policy which allows biological men to play on women’s teams if they believe they are women trapped in men’s bodies. This policy was announced by the International Olympic Committee and allows men to participate in Olympic events without undergoing s*x change procedures. When the policy was announced, people worried that some countries would take advantage of the policies and replace their female athletes with men and just as feared, it happened, starting with Iran. Yesterday, Nigerian Footballer, Ahmed Musa, took to his IG page to celebrate his new wife, Juliet, who turns a year older. Recalled, the couple got married last year after Ahmed divorced his wife and mother of his two children, Jemila. Following a stunning performance by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the Champions League quarter final against Manchester City on Wednesday which saw club defeat it opponent 3-0, fans of Liverpool have shown appreciation to Arsenal. The hope of Manchester City, of possibly lifting the Championship league today was dashed after they were thrashed 3-0 by Liverpool, in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night. British-Nigerian boxer, Anthony Joshua has beaten New Zealand boxer, Joseph Parker to claim his WBO title. Joshua cruised to a unanimous decision victory in the fight after putting up what appeared a poor performance. Joshua, the WBA and IBF champion, went the distance for the first time in his career but failed to impress in a boring 12-round effort against WBO champion, Parker. The fight was held in front of nearly 80,000 fans at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Despite what seemed a relatively close and uneventful bout, Joshua (21-0, 20KOs) received the benefit of wide score cards(119-109,118-110 twice). CBS Sports had it as 116-112 for Joshua, who unified three of the four recognized heavyweight titles. The 28-year-old Joshua landed the harder shots against the quicker Parker (24-1, 18 KOs), who was contented to box from distance. He also rarely took any chances despite out landing parker 139 to 101.

The Nigerian football referees have no place as FIFA chose six African match officials for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. This was revealed on Thursday. The world football governing body also selected additional 10 assistant referees from Africa. The referees are Abid Medhi (Algeria ), Diedhiou Malang (Senegal), Gassama Bakary (Guinea), Grisha Ghead (Egypt ), Sikawe Janny (Zambia) and Tessema Bamlak (Ethiopia). The assistant referees are Achik Redouane (Morocco ), Ahmed Waleed (Sudan ), Birumushahu Claude (Burundi), Camera Djibril (Senegal), Dos Santos Jerson Emiliano (Angola ), Etchiali Abdelhak (Algeria), Hmila Anouar (Tunisia), Range Marwa (Kenya ), Samba Malick (Senegal) Siwela Zakhele Thusi (South Africa). The Video Assistant Referee, VAR, will be used at the World Cup for the first time.
