Following the incessant killings of innocent citizens by herdsmen in Nigeria. The National President, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, Alhaji Mohammadu Kiruwa has disclosed that the Sultan of Sokoto, Mohammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, has given them two months to fish out criminal elements among herdsmen in the country, Daily post reports. It was a bloody Thursday in Kwara state after over 20 persons were killed following a dreaded attack on Banks in the state by armed men numbering 40. On Thursday, there was a robbery attack on banks in Kwara state which claims lives. The robbery attack was particularly in Offa town in Kwara State. According to new report, atleast 30 persons including 9 policemen were among those killed. It was gathered that the attackers also hit the police station in the area. Over 25 robbers had stormed the town, raiding five commercial banks along the Owode Market Area of the town in Offa Local Government Area of the state. The gunmen arrived the town in seven vehicles and stationed themselves in each of the banks around 4:30 pm. The armed robbers were said to have made away with several millions of naira from the banks. On Friday, eye witnesses and officials gave hint of the latest figure. A 71-year-old Detroit man named Richard Phillips, has been released from prison after spending over 45 years in custody.   Phillips had been wrongfully accused of being involved in a fatal shooting in 1971. A judge granted the prosecutor’s request to permanently drop the case against Phillips, whose conviction was erased last year.   He had been free on bond since December. Wayne County prosecutor, Kym Worthy said a new investigation by her office backed his claim that he had no role in a 1971 fatal shooting. Worthy said a key witness lied at his 1972 trial.   “There’s nothing I can say to bring back 40 years of his life,” Worthy said. “The system failed him. Yesterday, President Muhammadu Buhari was in Borno state to meet with families of 110 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram insurgents at Government Girls Science and Technical School, Dapchi, on February 19. After the meeting, the president left with a promise to recue the girls back to the parents.  However,some parents of the abducted Dapchi schoolgirls have said President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Dapchi has given them the assurance that the girls would be rescued safely. A Lagos State High Court sitring in Ikeja on Wednesday continued the trial of deadly Nigerian Billionaire kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, a.k.a Evans. According to Dailypost, the prosecution played a video which captured Evans confessing to kidnapping and armed robbery. The State Director of Public Prosecution, Ms Titilayo Shitta-Bey, who led the prosecution, demanded that the video clip be played. In the video the kidnap kingpin was fielding questions from a police investigative officer, Inspector Idowu Haruna. The video was played in the course of Haruna’s testimony in the case on Wednesday. Police command in Ogun state has arrested the mentally unstable man  who hacked to death two pupils of St. John’s Anglican School, Agodo in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state. According to a new report on DAILY POST, some new insights have been provided into the recent raid of Omosu village of Edumoga community in Okpokwu local government area of Benue state by suspected herdsmen, with unconfirmed sources saying that the attackers were aided by persons from a rival community. The Benue State Police Command had earlier confirmed that 24 natives and a herdsman were killed in the attack on Omosu village, while another herder got missing. Speaking with newsmen, the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni, narrated that some youths in Okpokwu had engaged some herdsmen in a fight, adding that the fracas led to killing of some cows while two herdsmen were found missing. Makurdi Chief Magistrate Court has declined to grant bail to six armed Fulani herdsmen who were apprehended by security operatives over the New Year attack and killing of 73 persons in five villages in Guma and Logo local government areas of Benue State, according to Daily Post. The accused persons, Ibrahim Saleh, Jibrin Adamu, Magaji Yau, Ibrahim Abubakar, Useni Bala, Sabin Yau, are facing charges of culpable homicide, criminal conspiracy, mischief by fire, grievous hurt and violation of the prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law 2017.
