Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike The APC, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Thursday, and signed by its State Publicity Secretary, Chris Finebone, condemned the planned move, saying Wike’s aim is to obtain the cover of it and avoid dethronement by the nation’s judiciary. Finebone said, “Wike’s latest move comes as no surprise to those who know his antecedents. Having back stabbed his mentors like former Senator John Mbata in the past and more recently Governor Rotimi Amaechi, he would only be living true to the unreliable ally that he has grown to be. “Wike’s history is replete with sabotage and dual personality often unstable among peers. So, we are not surprised at his latest moves to dump PDP to join APC. Such a move portrays him as unstable

Image
Nigeria’s jihadist group, Boko Haram, is in Zimbabwe and could soon reach South Africa, reports the UK-based news outlet ZimEye, citing Zimbabwe’s national intelligence agency. According to the Zimbabwean news website, the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) issued an intelligence report, warning that the Islamist militant group is in Zimbabwe en route to neighbouring South Africa. One outlet, Harare24, claims, “Officers were yesterday called for duty at around 9pm and are now temporarily stationed at selected police stations where they camp.” Harare reports that police spokespersons have not responded to a request for clarification on the original ZimEye report, and official statements from the government of Zimbabwe regarding Boko

Meet The Man Who Makes Buhari Laugh

Image
Despite his image as a strong military general, there are some people who can make the president-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, laugh. Getting Buhari to laugh comes easy to Atiku Abubakar, the ex-vice president of Nigeria. The former vice president  visited the president-elect on private matters . However, he spoke with journalists about the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s zoning of the key official positions. Meanwhile, Buhari unveiled the transition committee for a smooth handover on May 29. To prove Atiku’s high spirits when he visited Buhari at the Defence House in Abuja, the photographic evidence of his prowess can be seen below. It should be noted that during the intense presidential campaign, Buhari was several times spotted enjoying a good laugh. Laughter, they say is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict and Buhari is taking full advantage of this medicine.

Zoning tears APC apart

Image
Leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, may have realized that some blessings, despite their salacious nature come with daunting challenges as they move to take one of the first major decisions since its victory against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded national elections. The decision to allocate positions to different geopolitical zones may be one of the party’s first litmus test. Most analysts have avowed that care must be taken as political stakeholders are waiting on the crossroad for the party’s first unbiased decision. Many are of the views that an equitable and unbiased zoning will further boost Nigerians’ confidence on the APC led government. Geopolitical struggle Reports available to DAILY POST have suggested infighting among party stalwarts from different geopolitical zones who are interested in having some juicy positions allocated to their zones. North Central As the zoning issue takes the central stage, political bigwi

Subsidy removal: Nigerians gear up for showdown against Buhari

Image
Barely one month to the end of the President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, a stage appears set for a showdown between the President-Elect, Muhammadu Buhari and the vast majority of Nigerians. This followed the passage of the 2015 budget of N4.493tr, with allocation for subsidy on petrol conspicuously missing. The development, which has already started generating tension across the country, is largely seen as a landmine on the way of the incoming administration. The national budget, which was earlier passed by the House of Representatives last week, was N51bn higher than the N4.425tr submitted to both chambers of the National Assembly by the federal government. This is also coming barely few days after Buhari’s ally and former petroleum minister, Professor Tam David-West gave Nigerians hope by declaring that the incoming president could reduce petrol pump price for as low as N40 per litre. However, the senate approval of the budget on Tuesday, has confirmed the

The angry governors led by a governor from the South-West and another from the South-South screamed at him saying,  “what are you doing here after you have betrayed us? Leave here now!” A surprised Mu’azu who still making efforts to calm frayed nerves was pushed out by the two governors

Prophet Marcus Korede Oluwatosin Tibetan (Encomium Weekly) The prophet predicted that President Jonathan would be embarrassed and disgraced in the elections while Buhari would win and assume the presidency by May. He also said that the life of the then APC presidential candidate might be cut short, and that Buhari might not finish his tenure of four years. The prophet in a new interview with Encomium has revealed new things about Nigeria. While talking to Encomium from Chicago, Illinois, United States of America (where he’s on a revival and evangelical mission), the man of God reversed his prophesy on Buhari dying in office. Though he warned him not to waste any time to change Nigeria, Prophet Tibetan said God has g

It should be noted that he has been linked to several lucrative contracts awarded by the outgoing Jonathan administration. Eze has also made several questionable donations, including N1.8 billion in 2013 for a church building and a youth centre in Otuoke, Bayelsa state, the hometown of President Jonathan.
