Earlier today, Professor Umar Muhammed Labdo whose recent  article claiming Benue belonged to the Fulani's by conquest went viral for both the right and wrong reason has come back with yet another explosive reply. He insist,  ''The First Father Of Tiv People Was Mohammed Alla, who mgrated from Katsina. He also said  Katsina Ala Local government in Benue State was named after the fist Tiv father. Well, a Benue Born social media activist,Comrade Gurgur Japheth has replied the Prof in an article he titled,  Our Ancestors Were Never British Stooges. Read it below.. I have written on Professor Labdo recently on this platform about Tiv. The thread is still accessible on my timeline available on google search engine. The etymology of Katsina Ala is traceable and connected to the Royal Niger Company which was a mercantile company chartered by the British government in the nineteenth century. It was formed in 1879 as the United African Company and operated alon...

"Fighting With Davido Was My Biggest Battle ..- Dele Momodu Speak After Reunion With Singer [VIDEO]

Image
Ovation magazine publisher, Dele Momodu in his recent interview spoke on his beef with Nigerian singer Davido. It could be recalled that last year December, the two buried their 2-year old beef when the singer came to perform at the 10th edition of 'Ovation Red Carol'.  Reminiscing on the fight and all that transpired, Dele Momodu has now said, 'fighting Davido was bigger than combating Abacha'.  “Fighting with David was my biggest battle ever. It was bigger than fighting Abacha because of the blistering popularity of David; he is an extremely popular guy and it was very unfortunate, (the devil is a liar) because a baby was involved; very beautiful girl, Imade. When it happened, I tried my best to avoid a collision with the family because I am very close to the family especially because of Senator Ademola Adeleke. We used to sleep in the same house when I was in exile in London. Whenever Sen. Ademola was around, he would call me and then pick me up to his hou...

Why I Will Support Okorocha for Happiness... Not Okorocha for Misery

Image
This article is succinct and straight to the point. It writen and shared on Facebook by one Shachia Oryila. Read it below on why he prefers Okorocha for Happiness; I do not see much problem with Okorocha appointing someone as a Commissioner for Happiness and 'Copulation'! I agree with him that everyone desires happiness.  Nobody wants to live an unhappy life. He has shown that all along. I still remember how he ferried customized fried rice and chicken into the Benue State University community from Abuja to celebrate his MBA at the school. This means Okorocha knows about human relations. He knows the basic things which elude most men: happiness. Some people are rich, but not happy.  Some people have no jobs, and they are hungry and angry. Okorocha is schooled in Freudian psychology. He knows that the primary needs of a man is: food, sex and 'ego' or money. Now, this is why Okorocha is right. Have you heard of Satisfaction with Life Index which tries to measur...

'THE CHANGING FACE OF TERRORISM IN NIGERIA' - By Dr Usha Anenga

Image
"A stitch in time, saves nine" is a phrase which means, a little effort expended sooner to fix a small problem prevents it from becoming a larger problem requiring more time and effort to fix later. Terrorism is the unlawful indiscriminate use of violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political, religious or ideological aims. The first use of the word was in the 18th century, precisely during the French Revolution when intimidation and violence, including mass executions of innocent citizens, were employed by the state to compel obedience and loyalty. A century later, terrorism began to be associated with non-governmental groups. Since then, this activity has proliferated to involve increasing number of groups and attacks that have claimed hundreds of thousands of lives; the biggest being those of September 11, 2001 carried out by Osama bin Laden's Al-Qaeda in the United States of America. In that attack, four passenger airli...

2019: 'The Way Forward For Nigeria'

Image
As another federal elections year draw near with over forty political parties on the queue to slug it out with the governing All Progressives Congress, APC, there is every compelling need to focus attention on key areas where we got it wrong after 57 years of independence that has plunged the country into abysmal depths and to suggest useful corrections. It is not only disheartening but well-nigh appalling that in spite of our abundant human and natural resources Nigeria still gropes marvelously in the dark with a cast of neophyte actors at the helm who churn out policies that keep Nigeria moving round in circles. The resultant effect of this is abysmal failures while other countries gallop ahead in the long and circuitous race to economic growth and development which positively impacts on the lives of the citizenry. Today in spite of the economic policies in place there is nothing to suggest that Nigeria is on the path to economic recovery nor is there anything to suggest th...

President Buhari And The Fulani Herdsmen Terrorism

Image
I stumbled over this interesting article on THE Independent Newspaper and it was worthwhile. Please read it below... First, a caveat: I disagree with the narrative that the menace of Fulani armed herdsmen has continued because President Muhammadu Buhari is a Fulani. But I absolutely concur that the government under Buhari hasn’t done its best minimum to curb the security threat posed by it. Part of the reason for the failure of the government to deal decisively with this phenomenon owes to the misleading counter-narrative of subsuming the terror under the metaphor of farmers-pastoralists clashes. This is not only misleading but self-serving by those who want to conceal the realities of the premeditated war of territorial conquest and its ethno-cultural hegemonic dimension within the deeply divided Nigerian society. It is a political mischief to describe a situation in which villagers are invaded and slaughtered in their homes in the dead of the night as a clash. It is a misnomer...

ORTOM: A Monumental Failure

Image
They have murdered the state itself and is in the last and highest form of decomposition. Benue has the worst government within the north central zone and Nigeria at large, indeed as unacceptable as it is, it's a measure of the grandiose failure of this regime. The core of the crisis is the state’s failure to pay workers their salaries after billions of handouts it has been collecting from abuja and banks.Benue future has been mortgaged by ortom. The collapse of the educational system is indicative of the general collapse and retreat of the state. That same decay is found in the health sector, where our people are suffering the indignity of feudal diseases such as Hiv/aids, tuberculosis etc. No wonder our life expectancy is now 34 for women and 37 for men; statistics rivalled only by Borno and Yobe states, whom are war torn states. Agriculture, a sector that is supposed to be the driving force of our economy has been completely neglected and abandoned. This government w...

By James Ibechi Yesterday a friend on social media syndicated a piece of critique of President Muhammadu Buhari by Femi-Fani Fayode (FFK). Another dear friend sent me an SMS suggesting I read it because it reveals how FFK’s mind works. But as I tried to click the link a lady-like voice in my head said, “I would prefer not to.” I tried to click again and the voice said: “No thanks. I’m full.”
