Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the second batch of results for candidates who sat for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has stated that candidates for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, should not be complaining of not knowing their examination centres when they have not gone to print their slip. The JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, told DAILY POST on Thursday that, “the slip contains their centres, the time allocated to them to sit for the exam, and everything,” insisting that candidates ought to go and print it to know where and when they would be taking the UTME. According to him, “If they do not go to print, how would they get to know their centres. The centres are not just supposed to fly and land in your house. You have to go and print it. Philomina Chieshe, the JAMB official based in Makurdi, who claimed that a snake swallowed N36m entrusted in her care have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. She's to be grilled for the 36million  money which was part of the proceeds of the sale of scratch cards. Punch Newspaper, quoted that a detective at the commission told newsmen that Chieshe revealed that the money was collected in instalments from her by her Coordinator, Mr. Samuel Umoru. In one of the statements she volunteered to the EFCC, Chieshe who is a clerk in the Makurdi office of JAMB, was said to have revealed that the coordinator usually asked her to withdraw proceeds of the sale of the cards from her account in two banks. Just weeks after the story of snake swallowing 36million in Benue state broke the internet, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered another fraud of N26 million allegedly perpetrated by its former Nasarawa State coordinator, according to Dailypost. The former coordinator simply identified as Tanko was said to have embezzled the money he generated from the sale of the scratch cards hitherto used by candidates to either gain access to the JAMB website for registration or other services. Management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said all its staff involved in the case of the mysterious snake that allegedly swallowed N36 million belonging to the examination body have had their movements restricted pending the outcome of the ongoing investigations on the matter. STEP 1- The first thing you will do, is to create a confirmation code with your phone, by sending your "Surname Firstname Othername" to 55019. They will charge you #50 for the SMS. Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has begun registration for the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination in over 700 centres across the 36 states of the federation. The board advised candidates to avoid being conned by fraudulent operators, noting that an extension would not be given for the UTME registration. The JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, stated this on Thursday in a statement, adding that the deadline for the optional mock examination was December 30, 2017. The JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, had said in November that the 2018 UTME would hold from March 9 to March 17 in about 620 Computer-Based Test centres nationwide. Oloyede had said the application fee remained N5,000. The board’s spokesman said on Thursday that candidates were advised to register within the time frame as there would not be an extension. The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has fixed a date for the commencement of the sale of the 2018 application forms. The board said the sale and registration for all candidates including those from foreign countries will hold from December 6 to February 6, 2018. The spokesperson of the board, Fabian Benjamin, said this in an interaction with Premium Times Sunday evening. He said registration fee is N5,000 while an additional N500 will be paid to obtain a compulsory reading text “IN DEPENDENCE” for UTME candidates and “The Last Days at Forcados High School” for direct entry candidates.  JAMB Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede has announced that the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has slashed the 2018 UMTE application fees by 53 per cent for foreign-based candidates from $150 to $20 per candidate. This according to the board is to streamline the application fees in line with fees for other public examination in other countries. The development was reached at a stakeholders meeting convened to seek and incorporate opinions to add value to the board’s plans towards achieving a better 2018 JAMB examination. Professor Ishaq, also outlined several plans by the Board to achieve a better conduct of its examination at the meeting. Stakeholders mapped out plans to ensure that candidates are well-informed on the procedures of the JAMB examination. Sales of forms for the examination is expected to commence on 22nd of November through 22nd of January 2018 with the examination proposed to run between ninth and seventeenth of March, 2018.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), organiser of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), has banned the use of wrist watches and pens during the conduct of its 2018 test. JAMB also said it will introduce some detection devices to ensure that those who plan to cheat in the examination hall are frustrated, as we will also jam (communication network) of the centres, The board’s Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede disclosed this to newsmen on the sideline of a sensitisation workshop for Computer Based Test (CBT) centre owners on Wednesday in Lagos. According to him, the workshop was to appraise the registration and conduct of the 2017 examination. Oloyede noted that the sale of the registration document for the 2018 UTME would commence before the end of November.

Following the rejection of the infamous 120 cut off marks by the ministry of education in Nigeria. All tertiary institutions in Nigeria have fixed cut-off marks for admissions into their institutions for first year.
