National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has lifted the shutdown order on three pharmaceutical namely Peace Standard Pharmaceutical Limited, Bioraj Pharmaceutical Limited and Emzor Pharmaceuticals Industry Limited over the codeine syrup scandal. 

Following the abuse of Codein in the country, NAFDAC has shut down the Peace Standard Pharmaceutical ltd., BIORAJ Pharmaceutical  ltd. both in Ilorin, Kwara,  and Emzor Pharmaceuticals Ind. Lagos as it continues investigations into the codeine-based syrup epidemic.  

A BBC documentary yesterday aired  a disturbing documentary on how a cough syrup containing codeine is been abused in the country and how it has caused more harm than good. In reaction to the documentary, Emzor pharmaceuticals has announced a suspension on the distribution of Emzolyn.
