 Governor Nasir El-Rufai's Special Adviser on political affairs, Malam Uba Sani has threatened to sue the senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial zone, Senator Shehu Sani for libel. Uba Sani stated that the name of the suspect the lawmaker said he was allegedly sponsoring was “fake”. The aide was reacting to a publication in a newspaper during the week. He said through in counsel:  “The newspaper report was built around a suspicious police First Information Report (FIR) and we have every reason to believe it was a smokescreen, politically-motivated and designed to dent the image of our client and his Political ambition. “Consequently, we will file a suit in court to demand compensation for the false, malicious and politically-motivated media attack sponsored by Senator Shehu Sani against our client. “We are all too familiar with the Senator’s antecedents and now is the time to apply the law to bring an end to his dirty antics”.

Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye has declared that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is moving towards failure in 2019 if it fails to resolve ongoing crisis. The Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi has won a second term with 96.9 percent of valid votes raising a previous tally from the preliminary count.  The flagship state-owned newspaper Al-Ahram also raised its estimate of turnout in the March 26-28 election to 42.08 percent, saying 25 million of Egypt’s 60 million registered voters had cast ballots. On Tuesday, the paper had reported that Sisi was re-elected with 92 percent of the vote on a turnout of just over 40 percent.  It gave no explanation for the upward revisions. Sisi, who as army chief ousted Egypt’s first freely elected president Islamist Mohamed Morsi after mass street protests in 2013, won his first term in 2014 with 96.9 percent of the vote.   The only other candidate on the ballot paper this year, Moussa Mostafa Moussa, won 3.1 percent of the vote, Al-Ahram said. UN Mission in Liberia (UNMIL) today  concluded a 15-year mission in the one-time war-torn country, describing its operations as a success. The UN said the peacekeepers were departing a “stable and grateful Liberia” as peacekeeping mission in the country formally ceased operations on Friday after aiding Liberia’s transition from ravaging civil war to a hopeful era of peace.   The conclusion of the 15-year operation follows a landmark election that resulted in the country’s first transfer of power from one elected president to another in 70 years.  The newly elected President, George Weah, spoke for many Liberians as he thanked the UN for helping to make that possible.   “In our darkest days, the UN stood with us,” Weah said in his inaugural address in January.  Weah, a former football star, won the presidency in a runoff election in December, succeeding Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, who had served since 2006. Sources close to the Terminator actor said he went to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles on Thursday to have a scheduled catheter valve replacement. The former governor of California developed complications during the risky procedure, leading to an emergency open-heart surgery that reportedly lasted several hours. As of today, his condition following the operation was described as stable.

A 71-year-old Detroit man named Richard Phillips, has been released from prison after spending over 45 years in custody.   Phillips had been wrongfully accused of being involved in a fatal shooting in 1971. A judge granted the prosecutor’s request to permanently drop the case against Phillips, whose conviction was erased last year.   He had been free on bond since December. Wayne County prosecutor, Kym Worthy said a new investigation by her office backed his claim that he had no role in a 1971 fatal shooting. Worthy said a key witness lied at his 1972 trial.   “There’s nothing I can say to bring back 40 years of his life,” Worthy said. “The system failed him. Federal Government has released a list of some Nigerians alleged to have stolen from the nation’s treasury. Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, released the list during a press conference in Lagos today Friday, March 30th. Among the names released on the list are those of PDP chieftains currently facing trial for corruption and financial crimes.  The decision by the APC-led government to reveal the names of the alleged looters and the funds allegedly stolen is in response to the opposition party, PDP’s, challenge to the government to name those alleged to have looted the country and destroyed the economy. “The PDP has challenged us to name the looters under their watch. A Nigerian engineer identified as Kufre Uwem,34,  who  had a lavish wedding with his wife in Akwa Ibom State in December 2017 has  been handed a 7-years prison sentence for rap!ng a teenager in Aberdeen, Scotland. Uwem, of 6 Waterton Lawn, Stoneywood, Aberdeen, who was a sub-sea project engineer, detained the woman against her will in his flat and then removed her clothing and r*ped her. He was also convicted of intent to r*pe a second woman in her flat. The offences were committed on October, 18, 2012, and October 30, 2016, at flats in Aberdeen. Uwem continues to protest his innocence. At the High Court in Glasgow judge Lord Arthurson told Uwem: “This was a course of violent and predatory s*xual offending, notwithstanding the four years between the two offences.” The High Court in Glasgow heard that Uwem’s first victim was a first-year student who Uwen met by chance and invited her to his flat. American rapper, Fabolous was arrested on Wednesday night following reports of assault against his longtime girlfriend, Love and Hip Hop" star, Emily Bustamante. TMZ reports that,  Fabolous turned himself into the authorities in Englewood, NJ, after it was learned that Emily first contacted police, reporting to them that Fabolous had hit her following a clash. The 40-year-old rapper was reportedly accompanied by his attorney when he went to the police precinct. However, he wasn't jailed, he was only cited for the alleged incident and given a ticket for his court appearance.  Soon after his arrest, Fabolous hinted at some trouble, when  wrote a cryptic message on his Instagram story which reads,  '2018 tryna break my heart.' Nigerian Army on Thursday, March 29, buried the 11 soldiers killed by suspected bandits in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State last week.  The slain soldiers were among a special detachment of troops, under Exercise AYEM AKPATUMA sent to the village to ensure security for expatriates and others working on a new road linking Zamfara State with Kaduna through Dansadau-Dangulbi and Birnin Gwari. Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC,Samson Sedi, has been gunned down  in the Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo state. Sedi, the youth leader of the APC in the area, was killed in Jattu on Wednesday. The Commissioner of Police in the state, Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the incident to Punch yesterday. Kokumo said that the incident was being investigated as a case of murder as the victim was not dispossessed of his belongings. The police commissioner said, “We are investigating a murder case. We are not investigating armed robbery. Nobody was dispossessed in this particular case. “So, what we are investigating is murder and not armed robbery. We have set things in motion.
