Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, on Wednesday nominated United Nations Secretary General, Ban-ki-Moon’s Adviser, Muhammed Sani Abdullahi and 12 others as commissioners in the state. The governor in statement issued by his Special Assistant, Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan, said Abdullahi, who is an adviser to Ban-Ki-Moon on designing the Sustainable Development Goals, was nominated for the Budget and Planning portfolio.

The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called for the removal of the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Alhaji Lawal Daura, over alleged partisanship. According to the party, Daura was the chairman of the Intelligence Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the last presidential election campaign. Addressing journalists shortly after the party’s National Working Committee meeting on Wednesday, the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, accused the DSS under Daura of harassing, arresting and detaining members of the PDP.

A 32-year-old suspected murderer, Stephen Onona has been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command for killing his close friend, Daniel Solomon. Onona is from Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. He graduated from Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State. According to the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Gabriel Achong, the suspect invited Solomon who worked for him as a professional barber to his house over a misunderstanding bothering on money less than N1m.

A 22-year-old British Airways stewardess died suddenly in a hotel in Angola. Emily Dunn, (circled) who had a suspected heart condition, was found dead in her room in Angola after she failed to arrive for a flight back to Heathrow, London, on July 16. 

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 44-year-old man, Chide Chibude, for attempting to smuggle 1.185kg of cocaine to China. This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, Head, Public Affairs, NDLEA, on Wednesday in Lagos.

Chelsea boss, Jose Mourinho, has hit back at Rafa Benitez’s wife, Montse, after she claimed her husband was always clearing up the Portuguese’s mess at clubs. Mourinho responded by making it clear, that the Spaniard only replaced him at Inter Milan, where he “destroyed the best team in Europe in six months”.
