Mild drama occured at the Ibara Prisons, Abeokuta, on Wednesday, when a middle-aged woman, Fatima Balogun, was arrested by the operatives of the Nigerian Prisons for hiding a mobile phone wrapped in a cellophane inside a soup prepared for her boyfriend who was remanded in the Prison. Tribune Online gathered that Balogun was arrested at the entrance into the Prison yard while attempting to smuggle the phone into the prison. This development was described by the State Controller of Prisons, Mr Benson Abolade, as a threat to national security, saying the action was against Prison operations. He mentioned sharp objects, drugs, weapons, handsets as some of the items prohibited in the Prisons. Simon Cowell, 58, was reportedly rushed to hospital this morning after suffering an accident at his London home.  The star was seen being loaded into an ambulance on a stretcher while wearing a neck brace.  'It's been a scary morning. It was very early and Simon was going down his stairs to get some hot milk because he couldn't sleep. He fainted and is thought to have fallen down the stairs' a source said. Simon Cowell is in a stable condition while at the hospital but may have to pull out of Saturday night’s live X Factor show.

South African White Men Who Forced A Black Labourer Into A Coffin Sentenced To 14 Years In Prison

Court has handed over 14 years jail to the two white South African farmers who forced a black labourer into a coffin last year. The offenders, Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Martins Jackson assaulted the black boy named Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa, before putting him in a coffin. They also took a video and put it up on social media for amusement after humiliating the poor boy. The attack which went viral, sparked national outrage when it hit social media. They were later arrested and found guilty of attempted murder, kidnapping, intimidation and two counts of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in August. Oosthuizen and Jackson had maintained they had done nothing wrong and defended the assault by accusing Mlotshwa of stealing copper cables. UK Refuses To Recognize Catalan Parliament Declaration

Following the declaration of Independence by Catalan, UK has said it will not recognise the Catalan parliament's declaration of independence. Theresa May's official spokesman said the declaration was based on a vote that had been declared illegal. The UK prime minister's spokesman said in a statement: "The UK does not and will not recognise the unilateral declaration of independence made by the Catalan regional parliament. It is based on a vote that was declared illegal by the Spanish courts. We continue to want to see the rule of law upheld, the Spanish constitution respected, and Spanish unity preserved." Catalan MPs backed the independence motion 70-10 in a ballot boycotted by the opposition.
