 Nigerian Senate on Thursday rejected the request of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai to secure a 350 million dollar World Bank loan for Kaduna State. The senators rejected the request on the premise that obtaining the loan may put so much pressure on the management of the state which presently has a debt burden of $232.1 million.   The Senate took the stand after accepting the recommendations of its Committee on Local and Foreign Debt and contributions by all the three Senators from the state, who declined support to the loan request. Senator Shehu Sani, who presented the report on Kaduna State Development Policy Operation (DPO) Credit Facility from the World Bank, said although it was approved by the bank in 2016, accepting the loan would compound the financial situation of the state.   He said that if approved, the state total debt stock would rise to $582.1 million  Sani explained that the world bank facility was captured in the 2016 – 2018 borrowing plan as appr...

Nigerian troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have arrested one of the Boko Haram suspects in white shirt who is No.5 on the Nigerian Army wanted list and three other suspected members of the group. The vehicle conveying the suspect and three members of the civilian vigilante (Civilian Joint Task Force), were intercepted by troops on Thursday 29th March 2018 at the Forward Operations Base along Kano - Azare road, in Bauchi State. On interrogation, the Civilian Joint Task Force members claimed to have arrested the suspects in Lagos and he is taking them to Department of State Service (DSS) office in Maiduguri for further investigations.  Efforts are being made to contact DSS office in Maiduguri for possible confirmation of the Civilian Joint Task Force claims.  Meanwhile, troops has intensify search on the major highway to arrest any fleeing Boko Haram terrorists.

In retaliation to Western countries maltreatment against Russian deplomates. President Putin has just kicked out 150 Western diplomats with 60 of the affected ones been from the United States. Recalled that the Trump administration and its allies around the world expelled hundreds of Russian diplomats earlier this week after a former double agent was poisoned in the UK by operatives thought to be working for the Kremlin. Now Russia is striking back in same way by doing same, Vox news reports. On Thursday, the Kremlin said it would expel 150 Western diplomats — including 60 American officials — and close the US Consulate in St. Petersburg. Top State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said removing 60 US diplomats from Russia was “not justified,” noting it was not a “tit for tat” action.
