Fresh reports filtering in this evening have it that the Nigerian troops have recorded a massive success in their battle against cattle rustlers.
In a press statement made available to NAIJ.com by Colonel Kukasheka Usman, the spokesperson of the Nigerian army, “Troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army in conjunction with other security agencies within the last one week have recorded tremendous success in the fight against cattle rustling, armed banditry and criminality particularly in the north west under the auspices of Operation SHARAN DAJI. “In Kaduna State, the Division’s Internal Security Force (DISFORCE) has recovered 108 Livestock and killed 1 armed bandit and recovered 1 AK-47 Rifle and 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.

 “In Zamfara State, which is 1 Brigade’s area of operation, the troops recovered 419 livestock and arrested 1 bandit and recovered a locally made pistol from him.” Speaking further, Usman said: “In Kano and Katsina States, 3 Brigade was also able to recover 677 livestock, destroyed 10 cattle rustlers and armed bandits camps and recovered 4 locally made pistols and 7 Dane guns. The troops also killed 4 cattle rustlers and arrested 14 other suspects. “The ongoing operations are aimed at completely eradicating the menace of cattle rustling, armed banditry and other criminalities in the north west geo-political region of the country.”

Suswam rains SUVs on Benue Governor-Elect, others

  Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, has donated eight brand new Toyota Prado SUVs to the Governor-Elect, Chief Samuel Ortom; his wife; the Deputy Governor-Elect, Benson Abounu, and his wife, as part of measures to ensure peaceful transition arrangement. Senate Indicts Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Over Loss of N1.6tr Revenue

Nigeria's imediate past minister of Finance ,Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been indicted by the Nigerian senate over a N1.7t loss in revenue. According to the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Alleged Misuse, Under-Remittance and Other Fraudulent Activities, revenue agencies short-changed the Federal Government to the tune of N1.7tn as unremitted revenue generated between 2012 and 2016. The panel blamed it on a memo by a former Minister of Finance, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, who allegedly issued the memo to the agencies to remit 25 per cent of revenue they generated to the Federal Government and spend 75 per cent on their expenditures. An interim report by the committee chaired by Senator Olamilekan Adeola, details this. The panel said the amount to be remitted to the Federal Government during the period by 93 agencies it investigated was N21.5tn. It alleged that 25 of the 93 agencies covered defrauded the government of a total of N1,695,585,887,406.
