The Residents of the Port Harcourt Waterfront communities in Rivers state have expressed anger over an order by Governor Nyesom Wike that some buildings in the areas be demolished.

The residents grounded activities in the affected communities as they protested the order which they argue would make many of them homeless.
The governor recently ordered the demolition of the houses and other structures in the communities to curb incessant abductions and cult activities, according to Linda Ikeji.
Last week, the governor led an onslaught against kidnappers, cultists and other gangsters in the state with an ongoing demolition of their hideouts in Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor local government areas of the state.
The state government had said it discovered that the communities had become havens for criminals in the state.
The protesters defied heavily armed security officials urging the governor to rescind his decision
At the time of this report, the protest was on-going.
