President Buhari Receives Threat Message...
The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, ASCSN, on
Friday, July 29, threatened President Muhammadu Buhari, as they have
concluded plans to shut down all Ministries, Departments and Agencies,
MDAs, over unpaid salary arrears.
The development is coming at a time when the apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, had hinted that with the present economic quagmire, the Federal Government might not be able to pay workers’ salaries in the coming months.

The Association, lamented that the current state of affairs in the country, where sufferings had been lifted to a frightening level, was the time to settle the arrears to calm all frayed nerves, and restore normalcy in the system.
The workers who threatened fire and brimstone, disclosed that their patience had been overstretched, while calling on President Buhari to direct immediate payment of their backlog of salaries and allowances.
Meanwhile, in a keynote address at the ASCSN National Delegates Conference, NDC, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, the outgoing President of the body, Mr. Bobboi Kaigama, said: “You will recall, that in one of our correspondences to President Buhari before his inauguration, we did set out an agenda for him towards moving the nation forward.
“One of the items on the agenda, is the settlement of all outstanding salaries and allowances owed to workers throughout the federation.
“When the issue of bailout was therefore announced by the government, we heaved a sigh of relief, thinking the arrangement will cover public officers in the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, both at the Federal and State levels”.
He decried that only State Governors were giving bailout funds to settle outstanding salaries and arrears, while their counterparts at the federal level, are being owed heavily, with no sign of offsetting the backlogs.
Post-Nigeria, further gathered that with the way the economy is nosediving on a daily basis, the Federal Government might not be able to meet the Senior Civil Servants demands any time soon, which might eventually degenerate to a show down.
