Anambra Guber Election: Call For DISQUALIFICATION Of Andy Ubah ; Group Dismisses Press Release

As the people of Anambra edges close to the 2017 gubernatorial election , a lot of controversies has sprang up regarding the candidature of Senator Andy Uba and that includes an anonymous group calling for his disqualification.

However, Anambra Young Professional Forum, AYPF has dissociated itself from a purported Press Release which called for the disqualification of Senator Andy Uba as an aspirant in the fast approaching governorship contest in the State.

A sponsored group claiming to be young professionals under the aegis of Anambra Young Professionals Forum had yesterday in a press release called for the disqualification of Senator Andy Uba of the APC

The authentic group’s leadership has denied issuing such a statement calling for the disqualification of the senator, saying its group is not partisan and has no business meddling in political issues.

The AYPF in a statement issued in Awka, Anambra State and signed by its leaders, Dr. Okey Onwughalu and Mr. Samuel Nnadozie said; "it has come to our notice that one Chukwudi Okongwu issued a press release in our group’s name where he unilaterally called for the disqualification of Senator Andy Uba from contesting the primary election of the All Progressives Congress for the November 18 elections."

"This Chukwudi Okongwu in that statement alleged that Uba was not qualified to govern Anambra for a number of petty reasons which smacks of portraying AYPF as a group of hirelings and gangsters rather than as professionals that we are."

"AYPF as a body of  professionals wish to state that at no point in time did the AYPF meet to discuss the qualification or disqualification of any aspirant, whether he be in the APC or any other party as we as a group do not concern ourselves with the business of any political party, so for anybody to issue a statement in our name , in Abuja for that matter is wrong and criminal of such a fellow who is even unknown to us as a group."

"This is not to say that We are not interested in politics, we are very interested but we as a group are non partisan. We have never met in Abuja, no, we hold our meetings in Anambra here, issue our statements or communiques here, so for anybody to illegally use our name in Abuja for the purpose besmirching the name of any candidate is wrong and smacks of impersonation. “
