ORTOM: Governor Or Nigeria's Ambassador To China?
By Terzungwe Qua-Aondo
Governor Ortom repairs to China at least every other month. The trips are not the worry but the frequency is and at tax payer expense. It is something in the mode of peak-of-war-diplomatic-special-envoys. One is tempted to ask: Is he the governor-turned ambassador and credenced in Beijing?
Looking for solutions to the basic Benue question in faraway China is only a pointer to some clueless dim and reminds one of the cluelessness similar to that of the "Hebrew kings and their wisemen". The Benue riddle is simple enough but it's surprising any why the "wisemen" at the People's House can't seem to readily puzzle out.
It has been two years of groping in the dark alley. No head way. Now we are way into the third and the aimless foray continues .How does one come to the Benue problem and first thinks of a Cargo Airport and not an aggressive large-scale agricultural drive?
Merely putting the cart before the horse!
You have not begun to address the Benue problem until you put the children back to school and pay Children are not in school and their parents dying of hunger and disease and we think that is not the first thing? What has possessed our leaders?
Is Benue accursed?
Now because they think we are that gullible all kinds of antics and intrigues are on display! They can't account for the first four years but all we now hear are ripples of desperation and people threatening fire and brimestorm and other monstrosities.
But we say to them is that history is the easy answer. The fates of all great empires and emperors that ever ruled with an eternal posturing are one and the same. All emperors in conceit once felt they had a divine right to rule but they soon realised they were deluded. People have got to be guarded. And all con artists playing the religious card have got to know that God is not mocked.
No body is destined or has a "divine right" to rule Benue and like the biblical king Saul the same God could reject those who in their reckless self-conceit assume that for them it is make or break!
