Over 80% Of Teachers In Nasarawa State Are Incompetent But We Won't Sack Them Like El-Rufai..-Governor, Tanko Al-Makura Says
The Governor of Nasarawa state, Tanko Al-Makura has in recent interview disclosed that over 80% of teachers in the state are unqualified for the profession but they wont be sacked.
Al-makura,said this at the opening ceremony of two days curriculum review for Colleges of Education, at the College of Education, Akwanga in Akwanga local government where he was represented by the state commissioner for education, Ahmed Tijjani-Aliyu.
The governor however said that rather than sack the teachers as El Rufai did in Kaduna state, they will be retrained. He said:
“We will train and retrain them to meet up with the required standard.”
The governor urged colleges of education in the country to rise up to their responsibilities and intensify more efforts in the training of teachers.
