Ex-Brazilian President , Luiz da Silva, Sentenced To 12-years In Prison... Fights Prison Officials
A former president of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, was today handed a 12 year prison term after a judge gave him 24 hours to surrender to police.
The 72-year-old president, who was one of the most popular politicians on the planet following a landslide victory in Brazil’s October presidential election has vow to fight any prison official if they dare to arrest him.
It could be recalled that in July last year, Mr. da Silva was convicted on corruption and money laundering charges and sentenced to almost 10 years in prison. In January, an appeals court unanimously upheld the conviction and increased the sentence to 12 years.
