Governor Lalong mocks Senator Jang says "Treasury looters will vomit stolen money"

Plateau State governor,Simon Lalong  on Saturday said that past leaders who stole public funds will vomit it.

Lalong stated this while addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) members in Shendam Local Government Council during the party’s Local Government Congress.

He said..

“Last time I told you that those who think they stole Plateau State money and are running away with it will vomit it.

“The policy of the APC is that let’s achieve something before we continue with the war against corruption because they were saying that we did nothing and we’re hiding in the name of fighting corruption.
“Now that we have done enough, we cannot allow our money to be taken away.
“Those of them that have stolen our money will bring it back one by one.

“Nobody is above the law, If I steal today tomorrow I will be there.
“The resources are for the people and let nobody deceive you that President Muhammdu Buhari is witch-hunting anybody.
“Because nobody is spared in the fight against corruption, APC members found wanting are facing the law,” he stated.

He said that the APC government would not allow the youth to follow the example of stealing public funds.

It would be recalled that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Monday May 7, 2017, preferred a 12-count fraud charge against immediate past Governor of the State and Senator representing Plateau North, Jonah Jang, for alleged misappropriation of over N6.3billion in 2015.

According to the charges, Jang, allegedly embezzled some special funds released to the state by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

In one of the counts, the former Governor allegedly pocketed N2 billion released by the CBN for disbursement to small and medium enterprises in the state under the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Funds, MSMEDF, just a month before the expiration of his tenure in April 2015.

Jang is also said to have abused his office as the governor by collecting money to the tune of N4.3 billion from the state coffers through the cashier in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

Meanwhile, Lalong told the APC faithful that his administration has made agriculture it’s cardinal objective.

According to him, in no distant future everybody, government would encourage everybody in the state to go into farming by the creating the enabling environment.

The Governor appreciated the people of the state for the peaceful conduct of the party congresses which started at ward level last Saturday.

He said that the peaceful nature was a testimony that there is peace in Plateau.

“There was consensus at the ward level and there is consensus at the local government level today.
“Where you see consensus it means peace has returned to the state because if there is no peace there will be no consensus,”.

The Electoral Committee for Shendam LGC was headed by the Speaker, Plateau House of Assembly, Hon. Peter Azi.

Azi. who was assisted by Pam Botmang, Commissioner for Works, through voice vote affirmed the consensus.

Mohammed Hamza was returned as APC Chairman for Shendam alongside other officials.
