The legal battle to bring the accused persons alleged to have kidnapped and murdered late Revd. Father Alexander Adeyi in April 2016 to book continued today at the High Court of Justice Holden at Makurdi, Benue state Capital before His Lordship Hon. Justice Aondover Kakaán.
The matter which was slated for hearing today continued with the examination of two prosecution witnesses; PW7 through whom the prosecution tendered an electronically generated evidence, a DVD containing the video-recorded confession of the accused persons and PW8, the younger brother of the deceased Reverend Father, who gave a chronological testimony of how the Revd. Father was kidnapped and how he was able to pay the ransom which was demanded by the accused persons only to discover after the arrest, interrogation and confession of the accused persons that his late elder brother was murdered a day before he went to pay the ransom.

From the oral testimony of PW7, it was gathered that four suspects were arrested during investigation and two died during a gun duel between the police and other gang members when the accused persons led the investigating police officers to their hideout. The two who are alive and standing trial are Mr. Suleiman Goma and Mr. Haruna Idi
The oral testimony of PW8 also revealed that he had interfaced with the accused persons standing trial during the payment of ransom and that he could recognise them facially and through their voices, haven spoken with them on phone severally during that period. He was also able to establish that he was able to recognise them during the identification parade.
Prosecution counsel prayed the court to grant him a short adjournment to enable him continue with the examination of the last witness without any objection from the defence counsel. The matter was adjourned to tomorrow, 3rd May 2018 for continuation of hearing.
